Stillness

It has been said: " Stillness is the language God speaks, and everything

else is a bad translation. "

Stillness is really another word for space..

Becoming conscious of stillness whenever we encounter it in our lives

will connect us with the formless and timeless dimension within ourselves,

that which is beyond thought, beyond ego.

It may be the stillness that pervades the world of nature, or the

stillness

in your room in the early hours of the morning, or the silent gaps in

between sounds.

Stillness has no form -- that is why through thinking we cannot become

aware of it. Thought is form.

Being aware of stillness means to be still. To be still is to be

conscious

without thought.

You are never more essentially, more deeply, yourself than when you

are still. When you are still, you are who you were before you

temporarily

assumed this physical and mental form called a person. You are also who

you will be when the form dissolves.

When you are still, you are who you are beyond your temporal existence:

consciousness -- unconditioned, formless, eternal.

From " A New Earth

Awakening to Your Life's Purpose "

By Eckhart Tolle

Thanks dhyana, this is something I have tried to convey to people

sense, well forever and a very long time. I must confess I haven’t

read “A New Earth†as when I first read Eckart Tolle and heard his

speeches I didn’t care for them. As I am one that believes that things

are in constant flux, other people’s thoughts as well as my own

perceptions maybe I should go and read “A New Earth†with an open mind.

Is it a bit of coincidence or what that you should post this at this

time? Celestially one of the moments of STILLNESS is at the time of

the equinox and I was looking for material to substantiate a

discussion of self-delusion. With me when that moment of stillness is

found there is balance of cognitive thought and emotional

differentiation are at bay and a sense of a different reality without

the turmoil of confliction thought comes into view. In other words the

ego is enhanced and I learn to look at life’s problems in a new way.

This link is part of what I found. When one learns to be silent I

would say he/she is turning of that self-delusion mechanism and

opening up to a greater reality.

What people with extensive inner conflicts think and see can be

totally split from reality. In prayer, contemplation, or meditation,

an imbalanced sufferer can, with the images of his subconscious mind †"

and contorted emotional nature †" see whatever he wishes to see. Such

an unfortunate individual may " hear " from within convincing but untrue

prophecies or proclamations of his greatness, superiority, or world

mission.

Don't Fall Into the Trap

Because of the possibilities of self-delusion, it's very important to

strive to have companionship with awakened teachers. Study with them.

Heed their instructions and cautions attentively. Practice the

techniques they suggest, exactly and with the right spirit. Value your

teachers. As well, keep good mental/emotional companions inside.

Nourish your well being with constructive success-directed thoughts

and feelings. Higher consciousness is not a path of " Let's pretend. "

Faith is rooted in the certainty of a clearer and more perfect

perception of reality.
