Guest guest
I just watched this and towards the end I just started to cry. I bet a lot of us could relate with what she was talking about. Guest guest
This video is fantastic and very informative. Every time I have meditated since I watched it I see my spinal cord connected to my brain and I really have a sense of both brains. Guest guest
I did enjoy the video, and I too got a great sense of the spinal cord and its attachment to the brain. The audience cringed, but it certainly does the trick, and now I know what our spine is protecting. Guest guest
Yes, I've dissected brains, although not human, and it is amazing how separate the left and right hemispheres are. Only the corpus callosum connects them and it's only about the size of a large jumper cable. Because our brains are so split, there are interesting things that happen when the corpus callosum is cut, which is sometimes done in cases of severe epilepsy. Here's a paragraph from wikipedia... A patient with a split brain, when shown an image in his or her left visual field (that is, the left half of what both eyes see), will be unable to name what he or she has seen. This is because the speech-control center is in the left side of the brain in most people, and the image from the left visual field is sent only to the right side of the brain. Since the two sides of the brain cannot communicate, the patient cannot name what the right side of the brain is seeing. The person can, however, pick up and show recognition of an object (one within the left overall visual field) with their left hand, since that hand is controlled by the right side of the brain. If you're interested there is a wonderful book called " The Man who Mistook His Wife for a Hat " , by Oliver Sachs. Her talk summed up my belief about samsara (left brain) and nirvana (right brain). They are two totally different ways of comprehending the world. One, a logical and linear process that follows the laws of physics and believes in space and time. The other, presence, and immanence, infinite light and now. Only now. Guest guest
You need Broadband connection to watch Youtube videos live. Another thing if you do not have 'Flash Player' installed on your computer, then the youtube video will not play. Regards Venugopal Linda <crazycats711 wrote: Don't feel bad Carol. Guest guest
Hello and Thanks everyone, I do not have an old computer, I have a VERY slow internet connection. Remember the ones connected to your phone line back when we only had 28 k modems? Well, My ISP only goes at 24-26 k. I can have cable internet and even wireless on my computer, it is capable. I just cannot get any of those ISPs in this area. I cannot get U- Tube. I tried to download it, I tried for an hour or an hour and a half to listen to it, and it would come in small streams, but they were not connected. So I could not get anything that was comprehensable. I really wanted to see it, as My Mom just had a stroke. Thanks Everyone for your help, Carol , " " <...> wrote: > > I, too, thank Peter for http://www.microclesia.com/?p=320 . Guest guest
Venugopal, Thank you, you understood what I was trying to say. I am not so familiar with computer jargon. I do have flash player, but the connection speed will still not let me get streaming video unless I can actually download the entire clip and then play it on one of my players.Does that make sense? Anyway I can find it on the web and read it, or buy her book. Thanks! Guest guest
To play Youtube Videos you require two softwares. First one is a youtube down loader. The second is a youtube player. The youtube videos are in a proprietary format called 'Googe Video " and the normal video players like Windows Meadia player etc. cannot play it. A ten minute duration youtube video will be more than a 100 MB in size. If your connection is slow downloading will be a problem. IMHO the best solution is to ask a friend who has a broad band connection to down load the video and write it on a CDRom and also the Google video player on the same CDRom and send you that CDRom. Dr.Jill Taylor Video is available on www.ted.com in the jpg format which windows media player or Real player can play. But normally dialup connections will refuse to download a 100 MB file. With regards Venugopal light248y80 <light248Y80 wrote: Venugopal, Thank you, you understood what I was trying to say. I am not so familiar with computer jargon.
