Guest guest
Wikipedia talks about several seals depicting Yoga postures found in Indus Valley. From : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoga Indus Valley seals A seal from the Indus Valley Civilization, showing a figure in meditation posture. Several seals discovered at Indus Valley Civilization (c. 3300–1700 BC) sites depict figures in a yoga- or meditation-like posture, " a form of ritual discipline, suggesting a precursor of yoga. " [12] Archaeologist Gregory Possehl points to 16 specific " yogi glyptics " [13] in the corpus of Mature Harappan artifacts as pointing to Harappan devotion to " ritual discipline and concentration. " These images show that the yoga pose " may have been used by deities and humans alike. " [14] Explore your hobbies and interests. Click here to begin. Guest guest
Hi again Venugopal, This is starting to get predictable... > Wikipedia talks about several seals depicting Yoga postures found >in Indus Valley. From : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoga You will notice that only *one* seal is shown. It *exactly* the photograph I put on my website. You know the one I mean, it's the one you said " doesn't correspond " to the Harappan seals showing Yoga postures... ;-) I have ordered Gregory Possehl's book. We'll see if he includes photos of the other seals and which *if any* other postures they show. Please note below that he refers to the multiple seals as showing a single posture that he apparently calls " the yoga pose " . " These images show that the yoga pose `may have been used by deities and humans alike.' " Out of all the information you sent in private email and posted publicly haven't you noticed that they *all* only depict the shaman- like " horned man " in that single sitting pose? The pose you said didn't correspond to the yoga postures on the seals. ;-) So far you have only pointed to a reference to a single posture and pictures of a couple of different seals which all show only the *one* posture. The posture I said they would. Please post links to photos of the *other* postures. Namely the postures you said " don't correspond " to the posture on my website.
