Guest guest
This basic idea comes from the book " Meditation as Medicine " by Dharma Singh Khalsa (which is very much about Kundalini as taught by Yogi Bhajan). There's a short segment on Lucid Dreaming and author tells about a guy he knew who was able to have up to 26 per month. One of the primary techniques he used was, throughout the day asking himself " am I dreaming " . The idea behind that is, if you do it enough, it becomes a habit, that you will carry on into your dreams.. and if you ask the question " am I dreaming " in a dream it should trigger you to consciously awake within the dream. Furthermore, he mentions a good way to further that habit. Every time you walk through a doorway, touch the door frame and ask " am I dreaming " . Something interesting will happen. If in the waking world, the literal answer will be " NO " , however - you'll probably find you were completely unconscious to the moment - lost in thought, worrying about somethign, etc, etc whatever. When you touch the door frame and ask " am I dreaming " .. that will not only enforce the habit, to bring into your dreams - it will ground you to the current moment.. NOW. Funny too.. a few days before I read that, in this book.. I had been approaching a door and had stressing thoughts about something.. and as I approached the door I though, come back to now and relax.. and as I open the door.. it felt like I was stepping into a different reality - NOW. instead whatever reality I was in. Now is where it all is.. there's really nothing else. The past is gone, the future doesn't exist - both are just thoughts cluttering our heads. Connecting to now instantly brings me peace - unfortunately its extremely easy to get seperated from it.
Guest guest
interesting food for thought. i have been able to have lucid dreams since i started paying attention to my dreams. when it happens to me it is because i have woken from a dream but not ready to get up and record it. when this happens i try to think through my dream several time before i go back to sleep. by doing this i am trying to make it a memory instead of just a dream. lots of times this works sometimes it doest. but after doing this sometimes i will go back to the same dream but adding my own thoughts to the situation i am some what in control but not completely. reading your post reminded me of something i read a while back but never put to use or tried. i may now that i am more intuned...it said to stop before you entered the room and see if you could feel the rooms energy. i wonder... debby
Guest guest
yeah.. in my experience.. trying to remember a dream to record later doesn't work.. or very seldom anyway haha.. but seems like that is a good technique to trigger a lucid dream I'll have to try it thanks!
