Guest guest
Hi everyone, This is a repost from an article I had on my computer about EMPATH's. I think this article explains i this very well. EMPATHS Marked by an acute sensitivity to the feeling of others, Empaths can actually feel another's pain and can heal it in some way. Since Empaths pick up on the feelings of others, there is a great understanding and ability to really " see " the other person. Others tune into the Empaths energy and tend to gravitate towards them knowing they are " safe " with this empathetic person. Empaths can have a very expressive personality, are great listeners and often seen counseling and not just in the professional area, they will always find themselves helping others out and putting their own needs aside to do so. Very often there can be a swing to the opposite end of the spectrum being quiet with a need to withdraw from the outside world to be alone and daydream. Empaths are passionate towards nature, beauty, animals and children. Animals are especially dear to the heart. There is often an attraction to a special kind of animal but empathy towards all animals is a common characteristic. Animals and young children are especially attracted and drawn to the Empath's qualities. There tends to be an immediate connection of sorts. Empaths make great friends or lovers for life but are literally crushed if the friendship or relationship is abused. They will through many experiences and heartaches become more selective. Though Empaths may have a large circle of friends, they generally only have a few trusted ones. Oftentimes Empaths attract jealousy in others because of their many talents, loving nature and natural ability to get along with and network with so many people. The jealousy will hurt an Empath as they really cannot comprehend this behavior, or lack of compassionate understanding. Empaths usually achieve in quiet and not one to brag about their talents and interests. They will often promote the talents of others before their own. Accepting compliments are not always easy. Empaths are usually facially expressive as well expressive with their emotions and feelings. Talking openly and honestly on all topics is characteristic of an Empath. Because Empaths are frequently the recipient of listening to others problems they often retreat into the quiet of their minds eye. Oftentimes, the need to block out others is great so that the energy balance is restored. Empaths tend to be peacemakers, are non aggressive and non violent. In fact, there is an acute sensitivity to violence of any kind on TV, in films and especially in " real life " situations. Any infliction of pain or violence to others, especially animals and children will cause the Empath to feel physically ill and retreat. Oftentimes the memories of those images will replay. ****** Denny , Brandi Jasmine <jazztalk wrote: > > At 09:36 PM 6/16/2008, you wrote: > >What is an empath? > > To me an empath is someone who is able to feel the emotions of others as if they were their own. Guest guest
Denny, Thank you for this article. Very interesting. I can relate to so many of the traits. I wonder if I am an empath now?? My youngest daughter as well. It is very strange... when I get a headache, she gets a headache, If I feel a bit tilted, she feels a bit tilted. I noticed this since she was a young child. She feels her friends pains as well. We joked about it not knowing really, what it was. I just thought we were sympathetic and sensitive people. She feels her friends menstrual cramps. At times we both feel like it can be a curse though, only because of obvious reasons. I hate to sound negative about it but it can take you down emotionally sometimes when you are around very negative people. I try and avoid them at all costs, because it affects my moods. The children issue is exactly me to the tee. Animals not so much. I have never had a pet growing up, but I LOVE my oldest daughters dog like my grandchild, and she loves me. So I don't know. You have definitely given me something to ponder and consider. Appreciate it. Guest guest
On this website is a course book that you can read and go through to help in dealing with being an empath. Denny recommended this to me some time ago. http://mysilentecho.com/dreamtongue1.htm At the bottom of the next address is a link where you can take a quiz to find out what kind of empath you are. http://mysilentecho.com/ Often thought to be hypochondriacs by Dr.'s, because we are prone to sickness that comes from others~ (i.e. Test results may show nothing, but we are still sick nevertheless) http://www.moonchildpn.org/Empaths.html You can find more chacteristics of empaths on this last site. When there is more than one empath in the family you need to be cautious, for it may be a little hard to know which one is really the sick one. A little tale: My daughter calls me up one day and tells me she thinks my grandson my have appendictis. I began praying for him and she calls me back in about an hour or so and tells me he is fine now, it was a false alarm. Well I began having pains and had them the whole next day. I thought I was just taking on his symptoms and becasue of that I waited to late and my appendix ruptured. The only thing we could figure is that my grandson took on my symptoms even before I had any. It is hard for me to know if I am truly the one who is sick or if I am just taking on someones else's pain. I can sometimes take on some relatives pain without even knowing before hand with my conscious mind. Like when my brother-in-law was shot in the stomach, I began having severe pain in my stomach without even knowing he had been shot. The only thing that helped me to know it wasn't something wrong with me was that this happened right after I had recieved the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit was having me pray for him every day. I finally, after a few days, called my sister to see what was going on if anything and she told me he had been shot. I have been accused of being a hypochondriac. Guest guest
Good fun . I enjoy taking quizzes like those in my spare time , although I don't put much stock in there quiz conclusions when you finish them . I scored as 95% fallen angel with that quiz . Guest guest
Thanks for the links, Denny. I ended up scoring as a JUDGE. LOL - which sounds very ominous. According to the quiz, that means: " You are a Judge Empath, one who is a " truthsayer " . You can tell truth from lies, good from evil. You do not tolerate wrong doing. You are a defender of the good and the innocent. You are kind and merciful but do not play foolish games. " This was rather coincidental because the phrase " Seeker of Truth " popped up in three entirely separate books I am reading all within 24 hours (one was just a fantasy book). So now here again, a similar phrase pops up. For myself, I think finding the Truth - experiencing it directly - no matter what the " cost " (which would probably be the loss of all my delusions) is my most important spiritual aspiration. So that part is fitting anyway, I am not so sure about " kind and merciful " and not playing foolish games. I am rather prone to silliness. My two children and I are Empaths and my husband is not. He is very good about accomodating us. We don't pick up illnesses - we are very rarely ill, but we do pick up the emotional energy. Sometimes, if we are around people for an extended time, we will all three suddenly need to just stay home for a day or two and not see anyone. My husband began calling this phenomena " Sheltering in Place " and even got us yellow signs to hang on the front door so we don't even have to answer the door. We also can only stand being out shopping for relatively short periods of time before it becomes so stressful that someone has a meltdown. My hubby named this condition the " Shopping Clock " . My guess is that one of us must pick up some kind of negative energy and then suddenly we are all at our wits end. If I feel it beginning to happen I say, " The shopping Clock is about to run out!!! " and we run for the car. LOL Come to think of it, one of the reason we began homeschooling three years ago was because public school was just so dang stressful for my kids. As far as animals and children go, I have so many in my life! My mother says we are Noah's Ark because of our multitude of pets. I foster pregnant cats for our local humane society so we have at least 5 litters of kittens through the year. We basically always have kittens and kids in our home - very joyous indeed. I also am the organizer for an unschooling group <NorthIdahoUnschoolers/?v=1 & t=search & ch=we\ b & pub=groups & sec=group & slk=1> (those are my kids in the photo). Recently, we were having a get together and all the kids were on top of me - in my lap, at my feet, perched close by, all chatting at once. The other moms were saying, " Well, can you tell the kids like Alice??? " I am glad to know the reason for it all. Thanks for the info, Denny. I am sorry if this post kind of goes on and on... I think I am feeling a little more open and chatty than normal, probably due to the Scatterfield. Blessings to you all, Alice 1 , " Denny " <dennynorton wrote: > > > You are most welcome Ari and Sharon! Try this quiz and find out " WHAT > Kind Of Empath you are " Take the quiz...it's FUN!
