Guest guest
Thanks Paula! Yes... International man of mystery! Try " In Search of the Miraculous " by Ouspensky as a good overview. It's wonderfully atmospheric since because it is a small group of people being taught by Gurdjieff in cafes in Russia around the 1920's(?) or so. He gives an exercise called self-remembering that has driven most of my inner work since I was a young hippy in Austin TX in the early 70's. Oh, I almost forgot, Gurdjieff was also a composer and choreographer so there are also recordings. I've seen some of his dance movements but not a lot in one place so I can't steer you on that one. But the music, oh my god, the music. Alessandra Celletti has an album called Gurdjieff / de Hartmann: Hidden Sources. There is also a film, Meetings with Remarkable Men, that is stupendous. It is loosely about Gurdjieff's life and a musical competition based on inner development. And there is some of his dances in it. Caveat emptor, Gurdjieff fully embodies the trickster archetype so he is as much a showman as he is a teacher. But then what is the difference? Have fun!
