I think that the reason the g@y men I know tend to be more enlightened is they already have dealt with the possibility of ridicule in their lives at a profound level, and don't have the hangups straight guys seem to have about opening up - and opening up is a bit part of this process. Not all straight guys are hung up like that, but more of them than g@y guys, in my experience anyway. This is also changing for a lot of younger guys. I don't think being g@y or female makes one more likely to be capable of reaching enlightenment ... more likely to be open to it, and interested in it, perhaps, which isn't the same thing.
