Guest guest
hello! anyone here a fan of the philosopher/thinker Ken Wilber and his integral model of psychology/spirituality/evolution ? i find it particularly fascinating how he fuses everything together into one model. I just ordered a couple more books to get more acquainted with his thinking http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ken_Wilber his integral life practice would be, i think, of great benefit to create the needed balance that we all need as we tend to focus on one area and neglect others. i personally will be using it. The Tibetans take care of the physical, and meditation takes care of the spiritual. Mind is taken care of with my reading/thinking, but i've been neglecting Shadow and will check out the 3-2-1 process recommended by Wilber. The shadow is something that is neglected in basically every spiritual tradition and this explains why many enlightened folk have personality quirks that strike one odd. though seems to be the most balanced i've encountered http://www.kenwilber.com/personal/ILP/graphic_matrix-i.jpg
Guest guest
Hi Mikael, yep..I have been a Ken Wilber fan for many years, and have been doing Integral Life Practice (ILP) and before that Integral Transformative Practice (ITP) for about 8 years . I found Integral Theory invaluable in dealing with K, particularly (as you say) doing 3-2-1 Shadow and Big Mind process. The k. process activated a lot of shadow material in the cleansing/healing process so those tools were a great help. The 3 Body workout is also a great balancer for energy that gets trapped. Wilbers work has provided a really useful context in which to orientate and balance myself... I am still curious about the relationship between K. and stage development in consciousness evolution, or if K is just state development...any thoughts, Mikael? or Chrism..do you have any thoughts on this. (by the way, I just read the group guidelines, and if this type of email is out of bounds for the group, please let me know) re my K...well, for the first time in lord knows how long, I had a fairly stable week with no major shadow issues, although I was bursting with energy on Wednesday night and couldnt sleep with it, and today felt stoned, high and tired (from the K.) In meditation last night (just lying on my back) I felt energy pulling up from my perineum and also kind of rushing into the soles of my feet..a new experience. Kind of have a stiff neck today. Also still having flashbacks of odd memories..so the repression layer is still lifting inside.. The last 2 1/2 years have been relentlessly gruelling...so I am enjoying the interlude and just enjoying being here this week...and enjoying feeling spontaneously grateful...reflecting, it made me realize just how strong the body and spirit has to be to handle the increases in energy. Iused to do some endurance running, and that was probably the thing that prepared me for the most for the stamina required... had more K dreams last night... " I am in the countryside, next to a heavily electrified railway track I am afraid to cross because its so strong. I dont know how to get home. A huge train comes and stops for me,and I climb safely inside. I am not electrocuted. The journey continues... " ..oh..and more dreams of crashing waves... love to all... Guest guest
hi bruce i've yet to totally grasp his work as i only had The Essential Ken Wilber which is a short collection. I ordered Brief History of Everything, Kosmic Consciousness (audio interview) which I heard were the two best Wilber works to start with. I also ordered a book called Where's Wilber At?: Ken Wilber's Integral Vision in the New Millennium by Brad Reynolds which I heard is very good in explaining Wilber to a more general audience along with going into his latest theories " Phase 5 " going to watch the ILP videos today and tomorrow personally i'm not absolutely sure how K fits into Wilber's model. but I found this " For " kundalini " merely names that motherly force that carries the body-soul from zygote through teenaged puberty and beyond, in what Ken Wilber has called the full-bodied opening to development and ecstasies " beyond the genitals. " I think that when we saw Kundalini we tend to personify it, which is a good idea so the mind can be open to it and surrender more easily, but what we are personifying is an evolutionary process. so though not all traditions mention kundalini, its still at work. it has to be, because all mystical traditions are aimed at evolution. Adyashanti was awakened through the Zen tradition which doesn't mention any phenomena or energy, but i read from his experience that he had a K awakening, though he didn't put the word " Kundalini " to it, it still occurred. so Bruce I think that K is the process that takes one through the stages, the process of evolution of consciousness. , " bruce_oom " <bruce_oom wrote: > > Hi Mikael, > > yep..I have been a Ken Wilber fan for many years, and have been doing > Integral Life Practice (ILP) and before that Integral Transformative > Practice (ITP) for about 8 years . Guest guest
I think that evolution of consciousness is contained in Jung's concept of individuation. It's funny because I've recently begun working on my dissertation which will link all therapies together based on libido which is no longer exclusively tied to sexual desire; but is now about the desire to experience a life of joy and fulfillment. Jung was very aware of Kundalini and wrote a book on the Taoist version of it. Wilber solidly links the world of psychology with the path of spirituality. I believe Kundalini links them all, and another word for it is libido. IMHO.
