Guest guest
In my spare room I have to accommodate space for people to sleep when they visit, my laundry and ironing, suitcases, overflow of clothes from our wardrobe and my books. I checked today and found that I have more than 30metres of books - all non fiction, nearly all on religion and spirituality. Subjects range from Atheism to Zoroastrianism, with Islam, Buddhism and Christianity along the way. I have always had a need for religious books of one kind or another. I used to teach Comparative Religion in Schools and Colleges, but the last class I took was 20yrs ago. So why have I got all these books taking up so much room? I have never questioned this before, so why now? People who know me expect my home to be full of books and I find it strange to be in someones house who never reads. For the first time in my life I realise now that the answers I have been looking for are not inside the covers of those weighty tomes. The answers are inside of me!! I'm experiencing them now!! Over the years I have spent thousands of pounds on printed pages, looking for an answer. I have scoured bookshops, sales, boot sales and I have Amazon in my best friends list. I am on countless book and magazine lists and seek out the latest offerings from the esoteric book clubs. I made good friends with the editors of Book Publications so I would know when the latest Spiritual, Occult or Esoteric print would be hitting the shelves. My search is not over as such but I now know where to look for my answers. In fact I am no longer looking as they are being given to me, daily. Thank you and all the group members for allowing me to join you on this wondrous path to knowing........ Watch out eBay, my book sale will start soon.... Guest guest
It was the same way for me. I bought many many books on spritual subjects honed it down to astral projection and Kundalini what there was of Kundalini to have at that time. Then stopped as soon as Kundalini began to teach me experientially. Now I do not read anything but e-mails and meesages to this group and a very occasional book. It is true that the answers are within. Reading that or hearing that can be very different from knowing that. One cannot see beyond a question one does not understand. - blessings LS - chrism , " Skydancer " <ionaskydancer wrote: > > In my spare room
Guest guest
Chrism, my wife has every self-help book there seems to be, meditation tapes, you name it. I keep saying why keep reading about it when you can go out and do it. Although she had the great book on chi that got me going. Chuckle, that one hit home. Don It was the same way for me. Guest guest
Hello Lady S, Your post reminded me of a zen story: Once there was a well known philosopher and scholar who devoted himself to the study of Zen for many years. On the day that he finally attained enlightenment, he took all of his books out into the yard, and burned them all. Lol! I hear you. Guest guest
Hi Skydancer I think we have all seen this movie! Collectively amongst the group we probably have a full library of all the related topics! lol One site that I have found to be quite good is http://www.scribd.com Join the site (it is free) and then search for the specific topic of your choice (dont use their category search). You can drop ebooks down in adobe pdf format with that software also readily available on the net. I long for the day when all the answers are coming from within! blessings - Jonathan , " Skydancer " <ionaskydancer wrote: > > In my spare room I have to accommodate space for people to sleep when > they visit, my laundry and ironing, suitcases, overflow of clothes > from our wardrobe and my books. Guest guest
Yes, your story is very apt. I too would burn the books but a lot were costly and we have a big wedding coming up and need the money ;- ).
