Guest guest
I, too, am experiencing similar symptoms, though they are not all recent additions to my life per se. Ordinarily, I wouldn't mention them, but since we're on the topic and they may be K related, here they are. Regular lower back stiffness and pain seems to be a more recent experience, perhaps since the Shaktipat or a little before. The lower back pain seems to moderate according to my diligence at the tibetans and at yoga. Also, how much time I spend sitting at the computer, since I tend to sit on a rounded lower back/tailbone. Sometimes, it's not so much pain as it is stiffness, as if the vertebrae are fused together and don't want to allow that section of my spine to bend smoothly. Shoulder pain I've had for many years. The shoulder pain has actually been moderating recently, much to my surprise -- I have periods (a day or two) where I don't have the usual pain, and I figure it's kundalini working on fixing me, since it's not related to any lifestyle change. Migraines I've had on and off for many years. They get worse in the summer and are sometimes triggered by my allergies, which also are worse in the summer. Since the Shaktipat, I've had a lot of migraines, but I'm not sure if they are any more than I had last summer. When pain gets really bad, I take migraine medication, which has a little codeine in it. This effectively removes the pain. Some of my allergies are probably due to many years of smoking -- I quit finally during/leading up the last Shaktipat. As I write this, it occurs to me that I probably need to do more physical exercise, pranayama, and inverted poses like shoulderstand and headstand, especialy for my sinuses. I have also noticed that the back pain, migraines and joint pain lessen when I go on a more vegetarian diet. Unfortunately, after years of a pretty low-carb, high-protein diet, this usually causes me weight gain. Also, I find that without meat, I get a bit spacey and scatterbrained -- I need some meat to stay grounded and functional. Though it would be an interesting experiment to try going veggie long enough for my body to accustom itself to it (get over the meat withdrawal symptoms?) and see how I feel then. Also, I'm still pretty addicted to coffee -- if I can make it through the withdrawal period for that, I suspect it might help with the headaches and the muscles.
