Of course there are many different types but more often than not they are opportunistic parasitic feeders and will attempt to hide their presence. There are more evolved entities that will attempt to use the connection for more malicious purposes. Usually a cunning demeanor accompanies these discarnates. chrism would be the best person to ask but something whacking you to bring you out of sleep I imagine could be a human discarnate or something without bad intent?
