Yes some people do things knowing full well that it will cause others pain or that it will cause you pain. But the saying " Forgive them they know not what they do " means that if they really knew, in a higher or spiritual sense, what they were doing they would not do it. They are only being hurtful because they just don't know that, We are all one They are only expressing their own inner hurt They are reacting to an inner demon They feel a need to lash out at others as a form of self protection Forgive them they know not what they do The more I think of it the more it helps BTW Not that it really matter but I am not Catholic.
