Greetings and Namaste!

The season of celebrating holy days for so many traditions is upon us.

At the same time we are confronted with the horrors of people driven

by fear and desire into states of such blind delusion that they

trampled a pregnant woman here in New York, stomping to death her

protector, a valiant Walmart employee, and stepped over them, running

to buy a big screen TV! As if this nightmare scenario weren't an awful

enough reflection of the darkness of consumerism and materialism that

has gripped the world, at the same time, on the opposite side of the

globe, other poor, ignorant, alienated individuals, took the violent

route of terrorism, killing and torturing innocent people in Mumbai,

India, piercing the hearts of millions of people around the world who

haven't succumbed to the numbness our violent cultures are producing.

The crushing darkness of greed, violence and hatred must not be

allowed to prevail.

In these Holy Days, (and which day isn't Holy), we can and we must

choose Love moment by moment.

We must choose to illumine each second, each breath, each step with

the unquenchable Light of Love, Compassion and Peace.

At a time when we might feel powerless and hopeless, we should know

with absolute certainty that we are fully empowered to breathe with

Love, to speak with Love, to act with Love, to drive with Love, to

wait on line with Love, to give to others with Love, to practice

generosity with Love, to reach out to others with Love. This is what

makes our holidays Holy.

It was the capacity of those whom we revere to love in the face of

anything and everything, to be unswerving in their surrender and

embrace of Love, the Divine Presence, that made them Holy, made them

representatives of the Divine on earth. This is true whether one

thinks of oneself as Christian, Jew, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, etc.

Now it's your time to choose the same. It's our time to be that Love

and Compassion and Peace incarnate.

Right now, with this very breath.

Right now vow to yourself and all those you love to strive to be more

loving, kind and patient.

You can do this.

We all must do this if we want the world to be the place where all our

children and grandchildren and future generations can flourish.

What better way is there to celebrate the Holy Days than with

unbounded love! It can't be bought, it can't be sold and the more you

give, the more you have! No credit required!

Thank you for your topic. I heard the Walmart thing and later saw the young man's picture. I can't get his handsome face and the incident out of my mind. Consumerism and war for consumerism plague us. This site and people like you are my strength that we can change this. Thanks for being there everybody and giving me a place of solitude. When I see events like those in India and NY I start to really want to isolate from people and the politics that caused these events. My thoughts of forgiveness quickly bring me to the group and the transformation of the dna that belongs to the wonderful people on this site.

Love and Peace,

Jake
