Guest guest
Thanks for sharing this translation with us, Chrism: it rings so much more authentic than the version we are used to. And it makes a lot more sense, too. As a former Christian, I have occasionally incorporated the prayer into my meditation practice. However, I always felt a degree of discomfort with the arbitrary practice of hailing the Divine as a " Father. " A very basic philosophical principle is that what is Absolute cannot have limiting qualities. Hence, Divinity can only transcend gender. It is Mother and Father, God and Goddess--and much more than that. The inscription of gender unto the Divine is the exclusive result of historical and sociological processes.
