Guest guest
The feeling of being overwhelmed to an Empath is not anything new to us. It appears that way because we are coming in to knowing ourself for the 1st time and we are sorting everything out. We're going to learn to shut things out that bug us to no end. We're going to gain better control of our own emotions and be able to tell the difference if those feelings belong to us or someone else. We'll become masters of discernment. Do not expect immediate results as this will take time to sort out. Just know that you are NOT alone and others have gone thru this too. I also ground myself when things become overwhelming by taking my shoes off and walking barefooted on the grass or ground. I like to find a quiet place that has a huge tree and sit up against it, this is a great way to dispel negative energies and re-coup. I am also a shapeshifter so I have the ability to merge as one with the tree and arrive at the top highest point and see evrything below.I feel wonderful an happy there. Peaceful! ! ! Guest guest
Hi Denny I understand. I have become a lot better at managing my empath skills and am not getting nearly as overwhelmed as I was yet it has taken me a whole week to come through this episode. I think exercise is a big thing for me - I need mental strength to be able to manage these techniques because I am using my imagination. Building my physical strength builds my mental strength (Jad Alexander, Psychology of energy and Book Of storms) so I am working on exercising more, hence the swimming and I do believe it worked - I felt so much better afterwards. I also did gardening which helped. I am using your White Divine Light shield today along with other techniques etc Am feeling tired but much much better - when I've had a little rest, I will re-read the 'safeties' and start working on a daily routine. Thank you for your support Denny - I really am grateful Star , " Denny " <dennynorton wrote: > > The feeling of being overwhelmed to an Empath is not anything new to > us. Guest guest
Hi Star, Here are some more techniques that you may find useful... Exercise, as you mentioned. For me, anything that creates some muscle burn is very helpful. Also, immersion in water -- showers, swimming, etc. Denny's White Divine Light Shield too. General mindfulness throughout the day. By this I mean watching/monitoring your own thoughts and emotions and trying to discriminate between what is genuinely you and what comes from the environment. Often just acknowlegding/recognizing that a train of thoughts or emotions is not your own is enough to neutralize it. Go outside and get away from people. This can be done at lunchtime, before work, after work. Especially if you can commune with nature. Even only 10-15 minutes can clear you out and completely change your inner experience. Actively shift your inner state to one of joy, happiness, and light- heartedness. This includes being careful what kind of input you stream in: light-hearted, happy, silly movies, bright music, spiritual books, optimistic books, etc. Avoid things that bring you down, especially media detailing others' sufferings -- when you focus on someone who is in pain or filled with hate (even halfway around the world), you open yourelf up to immediately experiencing their current mind states. So notice when this is occurring and shift to a higher vibrational focus. Music - find music that acts for you as a shield -- that builds an energy egg around your awareness so you do not feel the energy of others. Then keep an mp3 player with you often. Mantra - one way to remember the Divine, to direct your awareness towards a higher vibration (and away from the " slower " vibrations of others' emotions which perhaps you have been experiencing more than you would like). With some practice, it is not hard to do mantra most of the day, if this is your predilection. Get a beeping watch. Set it to go off every hour. Use this as a " wake-up call " , reminding you to check your own inner state. A mindfulness moment every hour. Once an hour you can interrupt whatever you are doing and redirect your attention to the Divine, however that manifests for you, the Goddess, mantra, light, whatever. Remember that your sensitivity can work both ways. If you turn your awareness one way, you can feel others' pain, perhaps more acutely than they. If you turn your awareness another way, you can just as immediately experience a wave of love and bliss. If a friend dumps a bunch of their emotional baggage on you, practice detachment. You can do mantra while listening, or focus on your breath, or stream love to them as they are talking. Afterwards you can go for a walk, exercise, shower, listen to music -- whatever produces a shift for you and washes the others' emotional state out of your awareness. Study (and practice) the Safeties. Many of my suggestions are slightly varied (personalized) forms of some of the practices recommended in the Safeties. Hope some of this is useful to you....
