Guest guest
Hi Guys, I sometimes sit up at night watching re-runs of the various Star Trek series. A few months ago I was watching ST Deep Space Nine about a Federation outpost situated next to a wormhole. One of the main characters is a 'Changeling' called 'ODO' who can shape shift into almost anything with just a thought. His main problem is that he has been separated from his race and is now living with humans and aliens who he refers to as 'solids'. Odo's race of people live together as one in a pool of all their melded bodies, making one mass. They all share the same consciousness, and knowledge by the process of melding. Odo gets the opportunity to meld with one of his own race for the first time, and for the first time he experiences true bliss. he forgets all the stresses of his job in security, his meetings, and alien in fighting. He loses all sense of time as time no longer has meaning. During his meld he learns all the secrets of his past and future and knows finally that all his dealings with solids have no meaning. All the fighting, greed, hatred, double dealing, stealing, etc. are not what life is all about. His solid friends do not like what he is becoming and dont understand his sudden disinterest in the planetary affairs, their constant greed and search for revenge on past wrongdoings. His new found blissful state is now permanent which worries the solids that he is not the same any more. Even though he is happier and calmer and at one with himself, this does not make his old friends wish him well. They want the old Odo back even if it means he must turn his back on all he found. " They are trapped in a single perspective, " he says, " They cannot see what's really going on " Blessings, Skydancer x
Guest guest
I love to watch Star Trek (usually TNG) and enjoyed Deep Space as well. I remembe Odo. Thank you for reminding me of this episode too. The likeness to those waking up is on the mark! Those in another vibration or as said single perspective aren't quite there yet to see. Love it! Guest guest
Great analogy, huh Skydancer! (Its also similar to Plato and his Cave Analogy). I know that episode well, and I have all the Star Trek series on DVD or VHS.
