Guest guest
Thank you Deb; So you can relate to the intensity of the practice of TKD! All my kicks now for advanced red are jumping, spinning or tornado kicks. They really can take alot out of you, after doing them for a half hour or so. How far did you go in TKD? Guest guest
I remember the white, the yellow and orange and I think the next one I just got and stopped. Is that Green? Probably...thats where I ventured off into the green forest instead. (: Actually I think the teacher was easy on me for me to get that far. But I loved doing those running jumps and kicks and twists! Fun! But I didn't like actual competition...I sorta went off into dance and playing the piano. But I would have liked to continue if I didn't have to compete. lol The one thing about it is it really brings you into the " now " and really teaches you about concentration/focus. I love watching some of the more fluid martial arts on youtube...they look like they are dancing on the wind...I get mesmerized watching...Not sure what form that is called ... Ba...something? Don't know. Congrats on your success Kevin and have fun with the tornado! (: Deb
Guest guest
Hi Deb; From what I understand, not all TKD schools follow the same colors. In the school that I go to, it goes white, yellow, green, blue, red, black, with advanced belts in between. The advanced belt is the color of the belt with a black stripe around it. So in our school there are 10 belts before you get your black. (Tests are every 3 months, and you need to go to at least 21 classes to test. Another number 21, just like you should do 21 reps of the Tibetans, I wonder what the significance is??) The forms, which you were talking about, are my favorite thing about Tae Kwon Do. I started learning a new one earlier today, called Taeguk Chil Jang. Yes, I like the " in the now " that TKD teaches. I think Tae Kwon Do led me to find out about Kundalini, because after starting TKD, I got interested in Yoga, to improve my flexibility, then I discovered Chakras, and then Kundalini. Guest guest
Hello Kevin, Your TKD journey made me think of my own TKD life. I'v been doing it in my teenage and youth. I reached to Black belt 1st DON. And my Black belt Test was conducted by 2 masters came from Korea in 1999. I liked the flying kicks too much and I remember I broke the tiles with the Jumping tornado kick while my eyes were covered with a black cloth. And I got a scar on my foot which is still with me remembering that wonderful time Our School was based on World TKD Federation and our teacher was the student of Moon Moo TKD Club, California. Now I dont exactly remember the Great master's name because i was 10 years ago. Because of Black Belt, I became instructor and I had to give a lot of time to it and i found problems in my studies. So I had to leave TKD and focused more on my studies. Well I have great memories with TKD. And you are right that different schools follow different belts sequence. Our sequence was the same as of your. It was White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Red and then Black. And after Black, there are 9 more levels starting from 1st DON to 10 DON. In fact here in our country the maximum Don was achieved was 5th Don by our Master at that Time. We used to hear that there is a master of our school with 10 DON in Korea. I guess his name was Ku Ki Won!! And Yes! TKD has almost all the movements of 5 Tibetans. And It is very effective. I wish I could start TKD again Blessings Shoaib , " Kevin " <buffalo-kevin wrote: > > Hi Deb; > > From what I understand, not all TKD schools follow the same colors. Guest guest
Hello Shoaib; Thanks for writing. Yes, my school also belongs to the World TKD Federation. My teacher is also a 5th Dan. I am learning the new form, Taeguek Chil Jang. It seems to be the most difficult form so far, but I have till September to perfect it. It sounds like you had a great time in TKD, and being a black belt, you can always go back, or even start a school of your own. In fact, I need to get going to class right now. If I am late, I have to do push ups!! Kevin , " shoaibdotcom " <shoaibdotcom wrote: > > Hello Kevin, > > Your TKD journey made me think of my own TKD life. I'v been doing it in my teenage and youth.
