Guest guest
Love to you all - I read this in a forum earlier and wanted to share - Oooh, I will tell you a very funny story regarding Hanukkah, Christmass and the total confusion of religions here, in the Galilee. This winter I was bringing my 8-year-old son home, driving through Tarshikha, an Arab village bordering on ours. There are Muslim Arabs, Bedouins, Christians and Druz in Tarshikha. So we're driving through the street, it's dark, in many shop and house windows there are Christmass trees and blinking lights and all the paraphenalia. From above the muazin is screaming in his megaphone that Allah is great. After the prayer they will go home to eat the night meal of Ramaddan. In front of us, a couple of Druz men cross the street in sharwals (sort of pants whose legs are connected at knee height by a baggy thingy) wearing white feskas (hats like Alladdin had). My son is thoughtfully eating a Sufgania (the Hanukkah doughnut). Suddenly, in this totally surreal picture he asks me: " So when are WE going to have Christmass? " Sincerely,-- Tiffany JonesPatheya
