Guest guest
Beautifully put as always Sparrow =) I love reading your responses! That book actually sounds like something I may even read. I remember when I went through the dark night of the soul myself. Ironically it was right before my K awakened. I was in the car with my husband... and I was at a stage (About a year ago) when I was finally getting rid of the Religion I was raised with. I always held on to a little piece of it in my mind, but my doubt was so intense that I wondered what the point was of even holding on to it. I was agnostic before that point. Thinking... well if there is a god, I could never understand or comprehend. And if there isn't, then that is what it is. But I still believed in " something " Suddenly I felt all my faith in a god leave me. I lost all shreds of hope I held in the darkest corners of my mind. I felt so alone. Angry. Mad that I had to believe in something so beautiful as a heaven, just to wind up a rotting corpse. I thought it cruel to play with people like that, with false comforts... and I fell into a deep depression. As if I lost a dear friend that never existed. After that it turned into emptiness. I am actually grateful for this because it left me completely open. When my K awakened, I was no longer grasping to straws... empirical evidence... anything. I could actually trust it because I knew I was past the mourning and false hope. That I wasn't making myself believe in something so beautiful in fear that I would cease to exist. The K has opened my eyes in a way that words cannot relay. Beautiful, true, sharp, painful and pure. I will have to check out that book dear Sparrow =) Thank you for bringing it to light. (As far as the Atheist thing... that is a matter of grammar/definition. If nobody likes that word... please throw in what-ever word suits you best lol. Nobody knows her heart as she did. Nobody has the right or place to state she was one way or another. For me that was the term that came to mind... hence doubt/unbelief=Atheist to me. Either way, the deeds she did are an inspiration to us all. Regardless of her beliefs or lack thereof. She is beautiful and one of my heroes!) -Tiffany S , " ordinarysparrow " <ordinarysparrow wrote: > > Namaste > > dear Linda > > Oh Sister i have book suggestion for you. . . .have you heard of Madame > Jeanne Guyon? from what you have shared here i think you would truly > love her writings. . . . > > " She was born in south central France in the mid1600's. Guest guest
Namaste Ordinary Sparrow I have been reading back over this post from you and was wondering, do you think the " dark night of soul " experience could be the same as experiencing the abyss or void? If you remember, I was told while meditating recently that I would need to experience the abyss for a while. I don't know if I am strong enough for such as that.. I have not read anyone's account of experiencing the dark night of the soul, not even John of the Cross. Just the little I have pick up here and there. Would you say the book of Job in the bible, is Job's account of his dark night of the soul? I have done a search on line for Jeanne Guyon, but I have not been able to find the 3 books you recommended. I am wondering is these three were written from her original writings. I have found those on the CCEL website. I looked over the poems and read some of them. They are great! Thanks Sparrow! Guest guest
Namastedear Lindai can only speak from my own experiences here Lindathe void and the dark night where very different experiences. . . . . and in just quickly sharing the differences the void experiences where a progressive series that took me into deeper and deeper levels of releasing duality and claiming emptiness and deep inner sacred spaciousness. . . . .and dark night of the soul, i have often said to friends, "which one?", for once again there where more than one and each time a central underlying issue for my own stuff was in releasing attachments and old frames that where outdated, and those frame caused attachments thus leading to angst and suffering turning into deeper states of density. . .i would imagine that Job definitely would of considered his experience a dark night of soul if he could of read John of the Cross, surely he would of been in the Amen section. . . .Linda i went on Amazon and checked for the books. . . all three are there and even have them in used so can probably get all three of them for less than ten dollars. . . .i have excellent luck with Amazons's used books. . . . Just type in Jeanne Guyon Amazon or follow this link. . . also noticed she had a book on Job. . . .http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1249506105/ref=sr_pg_1?ie=UTF8 & rs= & keywords=guyon%20jeanne & rh=n%3A!1000%2Ci%3Astripbooks%2Ck%3Aguyon%20jeanne & page=1 perhaps can give you more information on the void and dark night, i could only write from how i have experienced those places. . . . love and lightordinary sparrow , "Linda" <crazycats711 wrote:>> Namaste> > Ordinary Sparrow> > I have been reading back over this post from you and was wondering, do you think the "dark night of soul" experience could be the same as experiencing the abyss or void? Guest guest
Hi Skoogle, Sparrow, and all who may be interested. I found all three of Jeanne Guyon at this website and some. You read online. If you really wanted a copy you can copy/paste it. http://www.passtheword.org/Fenelon-Guyon/ There are also some on the CCEL site which you can get to from the address above. You have to register there to be able to read or downlaod their books. The ones listed at the passtheword site, you do not have to register for those.
