Guest guest
Hi everyone, I came across this quote while surfing.. another way to measure how free you are love Brucee Thomas Keating (Invitation to Love: The Way of Christian Contemplation) and Cynthia Bourgeault (Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening) say the False Self is driven by " instinctual needs for survial/security, affection/esteem, or power/control " which they call " emotional programs for happiness. " Keating explains the consequence of being trapped in this cycle. " Once on the spiritual journey, we begin to perceive that our emotional programs for happiness prevent us from reacting to other people and their needs. When locked into our private worlds of narcissistic desires, we are not present to the needs of others when they seek help. The clarity with which we see other people's needs and respond to them is in direct proportion to our interior freedom. "
