who does more good, someone who works in a charity shop and

does volunteering, helps old people and strangers ?

OR a nurse or a doctor or an ambulance driver someone

that saves lives.

Is there any karmic value to the amount of love you give out

and can it be measured, i think not?

What if you had a choice to help old people or troubled violent

offenders.

The old people are thankfull, loving and easily pleased and easy to help

The violent offenders are testing, uncaring, and very troubled

its like hitting your head against a brick wall somtimes.

is there any value to taking on the extra hardship of helping the voilent

offenders even if it is detrimental to your own welfare

somtimes.

its like a small amout of work = large benefit for oldies.

large amount of work = tiny if any benefit for the offenders

There is no score sheet when you are being judged by god

its like the saying " the only person your cheating, is yourself "

but i do judge myself, alot.

Hi Mark,

I really like this post - making me think...oh no Mark, What did you do? (;

I wonder if its more of whats in your heart as you do it???? I don't know? But I

know you have a big heart and perhaps many of the trouble violent offenders are

not in a place to see what it is you offer - perhaps their lives have been that

bad - or perhaps they have learned to hide such feelings - I would think this is

one of the most difficult things anyone could do - to offer service in this way,

but I believe in my heart that on some level they do see you - or when they are

in the place to receive that which you and others like yourself bring - they

will remember you.

Don't we usually remember those that treated us kindly when we were going

through the hardest things in life? Even if we couldn't express such things - it

is always remembered. And then how does that change us? Makes us want to reach

out for those suffering because even if we don't talk about it or acknowledge

it, somehow its inside us, this love and compassion. This that you bring

them...Well anyway that's what I think, but I imagine day in and day out of

doing what you do - I can't imagine how difficult that is? But somehow, even if

this life is over - somehow the kindness you put out will go on...

But if your heart ever gets heavy too much with it - maybe its nice to help old

people too? (:

But let me tell you one story about my great aunt - who before she died called

every woman a whore, a slut, she called the priest (and she used to be quite

fond of him) more swear words than I thought she knew! She threw things at

people and spit in your face! She would yell at you that she hated you - on and

on. Well obviously she didn't feel so good, so we knew that and told her we

loved her anyway...

(although it was a bit embarrassing when she was yelling sluts to 80 year old

women)

I don't know why I smile at this every time I think about it...I think its

because she was a tiger right until the end...seems surrendering is a hard

lesson in my family! Although I don't think I would be afraid for my life from

the elderly...(but she was able to pick up chairs and throw them across the room

at lightening speed...I told you she was a tiger!)

Thank you and many blessings!

Deb

I think it's in the quality of your doing, are you fully present with the act or

are you off somewhere else while you are pouring soup or bandaging the wounded.

Maybe a better way to put it is, the what doesn't matter but the how is what's

important.

my understanding so far

I do know personally, since my husband is in law enforcement, that there can be

a big payoff with offenders... though not many. He actually gets quite a few

calls from offenders thanking him for changing their lives by being hard on

them.

Aside from that I have a theory as far as which deed would fare better for the

person involved. In my opinion it is a balancing factor. If you feel you have

done the most wrong and need to counter it, you would most likely become a

superhero in the soup kitchens to make up for it. Told a few white lies? You

will probably give smiles to those you pass by. Whatever you feel you need to do

to release your karma is a personal thing.

What makes you feel better?

I know when I was beginning this experience I signed up for volunteer jobs up

the wahoo. I had such guilt from my mistakes. Then one day I looked into my

adoring daughters faces and realized that was good enough. To be their mommy and

love my family. I will never be volunteer of the year, but that is fine. I don't

need to do it for myself anymore, and plan to make it a holiday tradition to

volunteer with my family (will also help my children be grateful for what they

have lol)

I doubt there is a level on what would be considered the most good. Good is

good. Bad is bad. I don't think it matters what you do as long as your heart is

into it. Do you want to help offenders? Then do so. If you need the challenge

for personal reasons, and simply doing good deeds wont make you feel better...

do it. That would be to your highest good. The payoff is for you and that one

commendation will make all of your work worth it.

As craig said... Its not in the what... It's in the how.

Hi Tiffany

I loved reading the part of looking into your daughters faces and being happy

within for that! And hearing your husband receiving calls from past offenders

thanking him - Inspiring (:

The " how " of the heart. Thank you Tiffany -

I'm thinking of you smiling at your girls!
