Guest guest
I had my first yoga class more than 25 years ago. One of my favorites postures has always been the fish pose, which I had been doing regularly ever since. Last year, however, putting my head so far back brought on severe nausea that lasted nearly 24 hours and was very incapacitating, so I stopped doing anything that required putting my head back. But then I noticed that slowly but surely I was able to tilt my head back farther and farther again, and after 11 months I did a test and was able to do the fish pose without any nausea. So I decided to start the 5 Tibetans. I started slowly, making sure my form and breathing were correct. I was doing five repetitions of each, and after the fourth day felt I had it down and could now do them a bit more quickly. Four of the five rites call for back and forth head movement, and Sunday morning I woke wishing I had a neck brace like what one wears after a whiplash. I didn't think I was doing too many or doing them too fast--I felt fine when I was finished. Four days later I'm at about 80% range of motion for my head/neck. My question is whether I must do the same number of reps for each one? Or can I do more of some and fewer of others? Thanks, Carolyn
