Guest guest
Hey everyone! Its time again for Mike's Tips and Tricks and things to try. lol! I came up on something very interesting during my practice today and thought I would share it with you. It has to do with Mantras. Somewhere (cant remember where) I was reading that mantras, while having many spiritual effects, are also used to physically vibrate certain parts/organs/places in the body. This makes sense since everything has a frequency that it resonates to. Thats how the singer can break the glass with her voice. So I started my practice today with deep breathing chanting the basic mantra " OMMMM " . On each exhale I held the " OMMMM " for as long as I could without running myself out of breath. First thing I noticed is that it clears/settles the mind very well. I was able to go into a concentrative mode after chanting for only a little while. After I was chanting for a little while, and I was relaxed enough to be a little more sensitive to changes in my body, I started slowly changing the pitch of the " OMMMMM " while chanting it. After a little trial and error I was able to see how changing the pitch of the " OMMMM " makes certain parts of the body vibrate. I was able to point the vibration right around my tailbone for a little while. I'm sure you can point it to the places of other chakras too. This too me is amazing, since it is a way to stimulate certain places that you might never with asanas/other methods. I believe there is also healing done with Mantras? Even hear about it? Makes sense since if a certain organ is not working or not working properly you can resonate (aka activate/restart) it. I will definitely be posting more updates about this since I think my practice from now on will always start with a mantra!. This road keeps getting more and more interesting. Love and Good night everyone! Mike
Guest guest
Dear Mike, When I started my meditation had few experiences in 2001.When you repeat mantra OM and focus on certain chakras subtle Naad like Lum/ Vum / Rum /Yam /Hum /Om can be experienced on Root /Sacral /Solar plexus /Heart /Thorat / Third eye chakra respectively. If you are doing this in a lonely place you may hear someone else is repeating these along with you.You may experience sound of different organs such as Flute / Veena /Drums etc.or sounds as chin chin or bells etc without their actual existence.................shrikant. --- On Sun, 16/8/09, JiNN <jinnproduction wrote: JiNN <jinnproduction Mantras Sunday, 16 August, 2009, 12:03 PM Hey everyone! Guest guest
Hello JiNN, I enjoyed reading your thoughts and experiences. Yes, I certainly agree, and also feel that intuitive expressions of sound can be just as helpful as a traditional mantra. When practicing mantra, different muscle groups would stimulate or relax to generate certain tones and vibrations. Using the stomach and diaphram in certain ways should draw energy to the organs, as well. It seems you were drawn to slightly change the pitch of your Om, so maybe you were intuitively making this variation of sound to heal yourself. Guest guest
Dear Selena, Original mantra of Lord Ganesha is 'Om Gan Ganpataye namah' & not Aum Gum Ganpataye namah as postedby you. Gum in Sanskrit means to go.You are asking Lord Ganesha to go instead of invoking him. regards.............shrikant See the Web & #39;s breaking stories, chosen by people like you.
