Guest guest
was, WONDERFUL! I left immediately after work on Friday and got to the spot in the woods I call my 'vacation home' lol, set up camp and went gathering wood, started a small fire and cooked a few hot dogs, that was about the extent of Friday. My favorite part of camping there is falling asleep and sleeping in the woods. There is nothing better than smelling the fresh forest smells and hearing the little late-night forest noises as you're falling asleep (which usually comes quickly). It was such a perfect evening and night! My sister (who is also on this group and K active) joined me Sat morning around 9:30 (separate tents, we're not weirdos, lol), but I had left the tent area and was sitting peacefully upstream a bit reading my Bible in the morning sunlight (which reminds me I GOTTA get a smaller/lighter Bible, that one must weigh 5 lbs!). It was unbelievably peaceful and so rewarding, I was lost in another world. We had an agreement beforehand that we weren't going to talk to each other very much there as we both were there for one reason, to relax and be with God. She doesn't like to go alone, I was her " protection " , lol. So we relaxed in our own hammocks apart from each other, quietly, her reading a book, me reading my Bible. The weather this weekend was perfect, low 80's daytime, nary a cloud in the sky the whole weekend, and low 70's at night. We both didn't get good sleep Sat night because on her walk in which goes past a house with about 15 dogs, two of them decided to latch onto her, they've done it in the past. These dogs were perfect in the past, they never jumped on you, were very quiet, didn't expect anything from you and wandered off before night, most likely back home. but this time one left and one stayed, the beagle. You see where this is going don't you? Well, the beagle decided to " protect " us all night long by barking us awake every hour give or take. At one point it laid against the outside of my tent pushing in on the wall right by my head. I had half a notion to stab it repeatedly, lol (I sleep with a knife next to my hand) but for obvious reasons did not. Sunday again was a perfect morning and although groggy from lack of restful sleep, I managed to work myself over to the fire area and cook some breakfast with my seester. We enjoyed the morning for a little bit and then packed up and headed out together feeling very refreshed. Thanks for reading this far WAKE UP! lol. Words cannot convey the peace I feel there, and this time taking the Bible was so much more enjoyable. I did take a little walk and sat down and meditated for quite a while on Saturday before dark. It was so relaxing and productive. Thanks again, Bill PS. One more post coming up then I'm done for a while lol
