Injured wing and gasoline

I think I just need to write…kindof like how tears just fall. Yesterday I was

working on an art project and slipped while cutting, and sliced my left index

finger, and at the same time poke myself with a stick. (Indeed my name is not

Grace or graceful.) I kept taking notice of the deep red colour of the blood.

I started to feel light headed, and because my finger would not stop bleeding,

and I too was trying to pull out the wood that had become splintered under my

skin, I eventually fainted. During the " time " I was out of it, I learned about

awareness. I spent the rest of my weekend when feasible, walking around with a

hand mirror and as per the instructions, kept my glance behind me. I perceived

the world in this way, and learned how to gauge my footing and distance without

looking forward. Such teachings are continuous. ..some are " simple " like this

and others are multi-layered. My friend said, " I thought you were probably up

to one of your projects since you were not returning my phone calls or text

messages. (You could say that, I thought.) Indeed, ones' life is forever

changed and there is no going back once you venture upon that road and/or hop on

board the K-express.

Later in the day, I was at the gas station and two men in a blood red pickup

truck were walking around asking for money. They said they were stranded and in

need of gas money. I gave one my " emergency dollar " . Then I walked around and

spoke with the other man, who was waiting for the pump to be turned one. I

explained that I did not have any more cash, but that I could use my debit card.

I asked how much, and they said $5 should do it. Six times that, and it was

barely half full. The man was saying that he was trying to get to his son's

house etc. He could not look me in the eyes. His buddy walked out with a case

of beer tucked under his arm. He said, I'm so embarrassed, how can I repay you.

And I looked at him and said, pay it forward, and as importantly, be truthful.

I said I forgive you, travel safely, but also realize that as a human race we

cannot keep deceiving ourselves and one another; all those holes don't add up to

a whole. This I know. I got in my car and thought, what on earth just

happened.

My neighbors parents are in town visiting. They cared for me when I was

recovering from cancer surgery last year in Hawaii. I truly feel that because of

them, and being a part of their orchid garden and their household traditions,

that my recovery has been without further complications. The mom said to me,

" bird no fly straight or see where going with tear in eye and injure wing. I

make you betta. " I hugged her and my heart filled with love and gratitude and I

thought, I already do feel better, thank you.

Peace and Love:

Danielle
