Guest guest
I have been doing some research, and this is what I found out it is, alalthough I am lost on the heads of the serpent and what they rerepresent, and nowhere does it say " kundalini " : Lord Vishnu, the Preserver and Protector Of the Hindu gods and goddesses, Lord Vishnu embodies goodness and mercy. He is represented seated on the serpent Shesha. Vishnu never sleeps and is the Hindu deity of Shanti, peace. He has four weapons or attributes: the conch, disc, club and lotus. In the cosmos, good and evil forces are balanced. When this balance is disrupted, Vishnu takes a human form to set it right. There are nine avatars or incarnations of Vishnu. These are Matsya (fish), Kurma (turtle), Varaha (boar), Narasingha (lion), Vamana (dwarf), Parasurama, Ram, Krishna, Buddha. Kalki is the future incarnation which is to come at the end of Kaliyuga. Lord Vishnu is the all-pervasive Lord who expands into everything. He is the maintainer of the universe and the complete cosmic creation. He is called Vishnu because He overcomes all.1 He represents sattva-guna, or the mode of goodness by which everything is sustained. He is also called Narayana, which means the shelter, resting place or ultimate goal of all living entities. It also means the one whose abode is the causal waters (Karana Ocean), and one who lives in the hearts of all living beings. It is this sattva nature which gives the living beings the tendency to grow toward a higher truth, the light, a more cohesive and intense reality. In this sense, Lord Vishnu is also called Hari, or one who removes the darkness of illusion. This illusion ultimately means the idea that the living beings live separate from, or without connection to, the Lord. Lord Vishnu is often portrayed resting on the huge serpent of Sesha. We see that the thousand heads of Sesha are all turned inward, representing a tranquil mind, and looking toward the Absolute Truth of Lord Vishnu. Lord Vishnu is also seen in the yogic sleep called yoga-nidra. The yoga-nidra (yoga or the root yuj meaning to connect or join) is a cosmic sleep wherein the Lord is focused on the Infinite Reality of His own identity. At other times Lord Vishnu is seen resting on the coils of the serpent Shesha, also called Ananta. Sheshanaga is the expansion of Lord Balarama, Lord Krishna's brother, and serves the Lord in this way as the Lord's support and paraphernalia. Shesha has a thousand heads swinging to and fro over the form of Lord Vishnu, creating a shelter and couch for the Lord. Ananta means endless, and Ananta is endlessly singing the praises and glories of the Lord from His thousand hoods without ever reaching the end. His hoods are also supporting the many planetary systems in the cosmic creation that are orbiting throughout the universe above His heads. Ananta also means endless in terms of the endlessness of cosmic time. This is also represented by His thousand hoods as divisions of time. The material worlds are created within the element of time, and are thus sustained by time. During the process of the universal annihilation, time ceases to exist, in which case the material planets are also forced into obliteration. , " lorree000 " <lorree000 wrote: > > This is so funny-- I was looking at one of my small soapstone buddha type statues I had forgotton about sitting around my house that I picked up many years ago from a second hand store, and guess what... >
Guest guest
If you are in an active appreciation of the Hindu faith then this is a fine explanation for a portion of the cosmological understanding of certain aspects of the excellent Hindu faith and philosophy. For Kundalini I feel there are some very good explanations but that they must first be in accordance with the individual belief system. All faiths have some kind of Kundalini explanation in varying degrees of clarity. I feel that the simpler explanations are best. If one wishes to connect specific divinity to a certain expression of the Kundalini this is good. For myself the Sacred Male joining the Sacred Female in the divine marriage is enough but thats just me. I didnt grow up Hindu or of any specific religious view so my choices will be different than those who were raised or converted to the Hindu or Christian or Islam or Buddhism, Jewish or any organized faith based platform. Really the best explanation Lorree is the one that covers the most pertinent information pertaining to your stage of development with in your Kundalini process. - blessings to you in the sunny southland Lorree! - chrism

Guest guest
For me I would see it as representing the chakras and or the seven fold Spirit of God. Seven fold ministry of the Holy Spirit/Shakti. You can google " sevenfold spirit " and find a lot on this. I just recently check that out while reading " Christ Our Revelation " by Jeanne Guyon. I like the way this person explained it it. http://www.etpv.org/2002/t7fold.html From the book I recommended last week " Kundalini Rising " by Barbara Condron, she goes into details of how the 7 churches in Revelations is symbolic of the seven chakra. She wrote a whole chapter on this. Then she has a chapter written on each chakra as the 7 stages mankind goes through to evolve. The seven heads could represent that, the seven stages one goes through to tramsformation. Guest guest
Yes the seven heads can be understood as representing the seven " major " chakras along the spine. These can also be understood as the seven churches or cathedrals or the seven swords, the seven veils, the seven lataif, the seven virtues and the seven deadly sins, the seven nerve plexus', the seven gates, seven heavens, and they can be seen mirrored in the seven notes or frequencies of a musical scale among other representations. - blessings to you Lorree! - chrism , " lorree000 " <lorree000 wrote: > > Chrism, > > I think it represents for me, as I am not Hindu (but like to blend philosphies), something more to do with the K and chakras,

Guest guest
Dear Loree, Although K is not mentioned in Vishnu puran,Lord Vishnu is deity of Sacral/Swadhisthana chakra.Vishnu represents power of preservation of human race.Sacral chakra denotes procreation of human race.vam is the beej mantra.Lord Vishnu and Devi Rakini resides in the bindu of the mantra. Here Lord Vishnu is seated on pink lotus and not on Shesha or Ananta.According to few scriptures he is seated on Garuda ie his Vehicle. Thus Lord Vishnu is presiding deity of 2nd chakra.Ref: Chakras, Yoga ChudamaniUpanishad,Kundalini Tantra,.The Serpent power......................shrikant ________________________________ lorree000 <lorree000 Saturday, 19 September, 2009 12:13:47 AM Re: Chrism--is there a better K explanation than this?
