Wondering if you could comment on this quote from Paul Brunton...

" Why did so many primeval cultures in Asia, Africa, and America worship the

serpent? A full answer would contain some of the most important principles of

metaphysics and one of the least known practices of mysticism - raising the

force symbolized under the name of the " serpent fire. "

The advanced occultists of Tibet compare the aspirant making this attempt to a

snake which is made to go up a hollow bamboo. Once aroused, it must either

ascend and reach liberty at the top or it must fall straight down to the bottom.

@@ This hasnt been true in my experience and in the experience of many others.

It can rise and then fall back to another part of the spine not only the bottom.

This is an indication of more attention needing to be given to that area and is

often a direct guidance given to the individual from that divine serpent!@@

So he who seeks to play with this fiery but dangerous power will either reach

Nirvana or lose himself in the dark depths of hell.

@@ Please! This guy is being a bit of a drama queen in this statement! Yes hate

has its lessons and they can be extreme but it isnt as simple or as black or

white as he writes of it and I feel his writing " in this section " is more about

instilling fear " of the process " in others. Rather than instilling " respect " for

the process. @@

If a man seeks to arouse kundalini before he has rid himself of hate, he will

only become the victim of his own hatreds when he does raise it from its

sleeping state. He would do better to begin by self-purification in every way if

he is to end in safety and with success...

@@ Yes hatred has its pitfalls and I do not suggest it. Self purification in

this regard is more about emotional and behavioral modifications and physical

practices.

Typically nobody " rids themselves of all hate " or all negative behaviors and

emotions. Some of this is for the process to dislodge as we are within the

Kundalini. Some of these aspects are not accessible to us from a conscious

level. So perhaps a bit more fear being given here. This individual and his fear

offerings are a bit to pronounced imho.

No one is ever completely prepared for the Kundalini. It is just so very strong

and so very beautiful and so very loving and so very intense. And it never goes

away. Forget about all this hell & damnation talk. It doesnt apply unless it

must. It only " goes that way " if the individual " goes that way " and it will try

to help that person come away from those behaviors and thoughts through direct

guidance. It is a force to be welcomed and loved and respected - not feared.@@

The intense fire of love for the higher self must be kindled in the " mystic "

heart,

@@ OK..but the regular heart chakra works fine for this as well.@@

kindled until it also shows a physical parallel in the body, until the latter's

temperature rises markedly and the skin perspires profusely.

@@ Often the person will feel hot and perspire without any measurable

temperature changes. This is a sign and symptom of the Kundalini as well. It

often transcends the physical. Same with the intense cold phenomena. @@

Deep breathing is an important element in this exercise. It provides in part the

dynamism to make its dominating ideas effective. The other part is provided by a

deliberate sublimation of sex energy, through its imaginative raising from the

organs in the lower part of the body to a purified state in the head.

@.a bit sexual in a way here with his domination themes and sublimation of

sex energies and raising through the organs to his head. hmmmm.

I feel he writes of the Kundalini in a way that is fear based probably because

that is what occurred for him in his process or this is what he has read or

received through teachings.

I do not accept the fear based modalities and there are many to be had in regard

to the Kundalini. Rather, in my experience, which had much fear within it, I can

now see through that fear fog and help to establish similar clarity for those

who are approaching this great spiritual evolution. Well anyway these are my

takes on these writings. No offense intended. -
