Guest guest
Dear All: I wanted to share an idea with you... perhaps it is something you can use for yourself, your family, and/or community. I put together a little project called The Giving Tree. I round up all those who wish to participate, family, friends, co-workers etc. and over a two week period the following occurs... For any meal you would have eaten out, any expensive coffee purchased, or materialistic knick knack you thought you could not live without, you donate that amount to The Giving Tree. Example, rather than purchasing the $4 cup of coffee, I pledge that amount. After the two weeks, you tally the leaves or pledges...and then those funds are used for that which was pre-determined before the project began. For example, I wanted to raise funds for an Austic Center. Our Giving Tree was made up of just a few people, and raised $500 in two weeks. Together, we presented the check and learned about their organization. This is something you can do with your kids, or just by yourself as an awareness exercise, or for a charity of choice. It's easy and fun. It comes to mind for those who are trying to save for the JoG trip etc, or seeking creative ways to pay it forward. Perhaps this isn't KAS-1 related, but is some off the beaten path way, I think it is. Love: Danielle
Guest guest
Hi all, this is a lovely idea. Have a look at an old Shel Silverstein book with the same title- " The Giving Tree " It is a beautiful child's book, will make you cry. Maybe you could use the book somehow in your work.... Happy November....
