Guest guest
This is a great thread on grounding, good advice from all. I have not known about Karma yoga, but from the bible I learned that no matter what you do, to do it as a service to God, it does made chores go much smoother. I never though of it being a grounding tool, but I guess it would be. I need to keep that in mind when my energy starts blowing up electical devices, it's time to go chop wood and carry water. Hehe! When I do the Tibetans, though, it tends to get my energy more active, rather than grounding it. I guess that would be a mental thing. All this time I thought the tibetans to be an activiting tool, not as a grounding one. When I eat a steak, I have not found it to lessen my energy, but maybe it is just not enough for me to notice. I guess if I were to be full vegaterian, I might have a big problem. Hehe! If one were to eat only veges for a long time and then change and eat meat it would be more noticable, I suppose. If I eat something spicey hot(I do once in a while), the energy zooms to my head and tingles galore. Before K, spicey food didn't effect me that way. I have found that lying on the ground and sending the energy into the earth works good, too. It is good for an emergency situation! Am I understanding what it means to stay grounded? Is it something different than being balanced? or centered? What is the difference if any in all those three? Guest guest
Hi All, [i'm not sure this is appropriate - given that there seem to be some reservations about some types of Chi Gung practice but I'm sure someone will chip in if it's problematic] In the style of Chi Gung I practice, there is the idea that keeping the relaxed weight on the heel, rather than any other part of the foot, causes/helps energy to descend through the body and into the ground. Keeping your weight back in this manner during everyday activities might help keep that flow going. Cheers Rob --
Guest guest
Hi Rob, personally I find tai chi and chi kung incredibly beneficial in helping emotional control and reclaiming personal power, they're very corrective and quick - I'm working hard on uprooting and cleansing out fears and stuck old emotional patterns that pull me out of myself, but I guess other people may have different deficiencies to correct, or need to work in other ways. I find just experiencing how my feet rest on the floor and experimenting with returning balance really helpful.. slowly my feet are reconnecting all the way up to the back of my neck, way hey, what an amazing sensation, wiggling toes and feeling it in your neck ) Amanda , " Rob Beardwell " <rb249 wrote: > > Hi All, > > [i'm not sure this is appropriate - given that there seem to be some > reservations about some types of Chi Gung practice but I'm sure someone will > chip in if it's problematic] > > In the style of Chi Gung I practice, there is the idea that keeping the > relaxed weight on the heel, rather than any other part of the foot, > causes/helps energy to descend through the body and into the ground.
