Guest guest
Hi, A month or so ago I posted regarding feeling stage fright during my yoga asana teach-back classes. This is where I would have to stand in a cirlce while everyone but the one person I was teaching were sitting and watching while I taught back a particular yoga pose. I had normal nervousness but when it was time for all eyes to be on me and I started teaching the simple Mountain pose after looking my partner in the eye my body got the shakes. I realized that I'm sure I was very nervous and this can very well still be an expression that came from the root of a place within me. Since that day I have been able to teach back the poses normally without much nervousness and no shaking. I did deminish intake of chocolate for two weeks and now only have less or no chocolate about 36 hours or a couple days before a teach back class. (As reminded me that the caffeine from chocolate stays in the body for 36 hours!) So I now teach back with miminal nervousness as much as I felt on the first day probably but no more shaking (something I had never experienced before.) However, it seems more than that now that I have observed the partner I had that day. She, too, was very nervous. I've noticed now that each time she teaches back a pose herself her body is shaking almost intensely. She is a librarian by day so this is probably very out of her comfort zone as well. So my thinking is that it's quite possible that not only was I feeling my own nerves, but hers as well that compounded and created a not-so-usual reaction in my body. As Chrism said when K active we feel all the energy of all eyes that are focused on us and I'm guessing since I've had other empathic experiences in times past this was yet another possible side effect as well. Mmmm…. I wanted to update you all because I haven't been able to post much and let you know! I am still in teacher training. But since I do have certification with another venue already in my pocket, my place of work (corporate environment) has officially hired me to start teaching yoga one night a week starting in January in their gym. Yay! I have experienced subbing there and am very happy to have this experience! Wish me luck! Thank you as well for your wonderful advice and the mudra as well. My son has a chorus recital tonight and I shared the mudra you gave me with him to alleviate some stage fright fears he just shared with me. He's got it memorized. Blessings, Maggie
