Guest guest
Hey everyone! Just hoping for some tips and advice. I only started meditating once i found out i was activated, so i am fairly new to meditation. Recently iv been finding it difficult to focus and my mind keeps wandering even with mantras, and it is becoming very frustrating! lol. I didn't have a problem when i first started the practise of meditation, but yeh atm its not really working. Any tips or advice that anyone can give on helping me to focus or really to not focus on anything Also how to meditate more deeply but i suppose that just comes with practice All thoughts would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!
Guest guest
Meditation is hard for me also - I have been working on it for a long time - of late I do a mantra over and over and it is actually giving me some no thoughts time - short but there- It is frustrating when one is wanting to be calm and look within. The other thing I am working on is being mindful all the time of what is happening. This is a form of meditation. Thru readings I find that those teachers and gurus who have reached a higher level are in waking meditation 24/7. And some nice lady here on the list advised me not to stress over meditating. Shakti will lead me there in time. That has taken some of the pressure off. But reading of all the wonderful experiences of others does make one ponder why it is so hard to get into a meditative state. And yet we are all different and learn in our own time. So let yourself relax and just do 20 of quiet time. Change the focus - perhaps that will help. Wishing you deep inner quiet. e
Guest guest
I wouldnt worry, I have a similarly ordinary experience with meditation. Recently, through Chrism's advice, Ive simply watched myself internally. I ponder different feelings, movements and sounds. I let myself think about them, I dont stop my thoughts, I just let them flow. Seems to work just fine. What I have noticed is that by focusing on the ringing in my ears, its got much much louder and does stop my thoughts from wondering too much. I think i will look within and hopefully shakti will guide me soon and i will learn how to better my meditation. Thankyou again for your kind words and helpful advice. im glad i am not the first or the only one to have had problems with meditation!! everyone makes it sounds so easy! Guest guest
Caitlin, Welcome to the group. I think what you are experiencing is fairly common. After a while of meditation you become much more aware than you were before of just how much your mind likes to jump all over the place, trying to pull your attention with it. So don't worry about it - just keep on doing your practice and with time everything will change. Try not to be too attached to having this or that experience in your meditations. If your mind wanders, so be it. If it stays focused, so be it. If you sat for your meditation time and practiced whatever form of meditation you are currently practicing, then know you have succeeded in doing your practice. While you're continuing your practice and waiting to see what new developments may or may not happen next, try to cultivate inner joy, gratitude, etc. - all the aspects of the safeties. If you haven't had a chance to review the safeties, you may want to do so. They are a set of protocols on the main web site (and also in the files section of the ) that help to provide balance and can guide you towards a joyous kundalini experience. Guest guest
> everyone makes it sounds so easy! It's not easy, even though the instructions seem simple. But if you keep doing it, you will be transformed. Love, David
Guest guest
Hello David, Thankyou for your post and advice! It is alot easier to just accept whether or not my mind decides to wonder that particular session and to not worry about it later. In a way that is surrendering. Don't want to surrendor to my ego thinking about what im doing later that day though lol. But found it easier to refocus my thoughts today to nothingness. Had a better time at quieting my thoughts and looking inwards. I have lots and lots of time to practise so it will be interesting indeed. Yes the safeties i know of, i have been practising them every day since. Thankyou again. Best of wishes to everyone, Caitlin
Guest guest
Is it possible that  meditation is a sort of natural state for us to be in but we as humans have forgotten this?  meditation is often hijacked by " the experts " who make it appear mysterious and difficult.  Ok, it can be dificult, but imho only because all inward journeys can be difficult and meditation is really an inward and unique journey. Also what can be challenging is that we normally use our mind to connect with the external world and these connections take us away from our true selves. We become used to being away from our true self and meditation invites us to come into harmony with our selves.   Meditation is stilling the body and emotions and letting the mind become still. To begin with the stilling of the body and actually taking the time away from the external world to do this can in itself be a bit of a challenge in itself! Don't be concerned about your mind wandering, that is the thing mind is used to doing, it will need to become used to this new enviornment you are bringing it to. If mantras are not good for you on one day you could try observing the breath as it moves into your nose and fills your lungs and observe it move out of your body again, some folks say a mantra too on the in breath, others on the out breath. Experiment with it. Meditation is taken too seriously sometimes I feel. If you are able to take the time to meditate, enjoy it and feel thankful that you are tuning in to the peace and harmony within and do not be too worried at all about sticking to a particular method or results. As time passses you will discover your own sillness and you will be guided and led. You will come to know as you stay on the journey. You have all the requirements needed for meditation, lungs and a mind, lol! Enjoy. Guest guest
Hi Caitlin, I am sure most everyone has some problems with meditation at least part of the time. I know I do, some day my mind is just too busy to turn off. I go through the motions at my set time anyways and hope tomorrow will be better. Guest guest
Wow!! Thanks Julia! and Thanks Linda! Seems i do have all the pre-requisites needed for meditation lol Thankyou for you wise words and your insight. Funnily enough i tried the mantra on the in-breathe this morning and it helped alot in focusing me. The breath is constant and it does help to calm the mind and block out the external. Thanks again for you posts and for taking the time to reply!! Blessings to everyone, Caitlin
