Guest guest
Thought I would step out of lurking and ask a meditation question. For the past few months, I have had multiple episodes of forceful exhalation during my meditation sessions. Let me try to explain.... After meditating about 10 minutes or so, I feel a sudden force pushing into my solar plexus, like I have just been punched in the stomach. This is immediately followed by an uncontrollable forceful exhalation that totally empties my lungs. This causes me to double over. There is no pain and I am not fearful... Just wondering what is up with that? Has anyone else ever had anything similar happen? (I have a history of strong kriya activity in the past. Meditation always increases the activity, especially when my breath is very shallow, or when the breath completely stops) Thank you. Love, Lori
Guest guest
Lori, In hatha yoga it's called uddiyana bandha. It is another type of lock. I think it is mentioned in one or another of Chrism's articles on the main site. You can also look in Wikipedia. I have had this happen to me as well, also during meditation. It's pretty cool. It's not really volitional - it just happens - the body wants to do it. With me I don't double over, just kind of lean forward a little. Also I find my abdominal muscles pull in and up when it happens. Just one of those kundalini things.... Love, David
Guest guest
Hi Lori! I've experienced a myriad of breathing changes during meditation. From my own experience it has seemed to be about a flow and balancing. There have been times in which the exhale is so prolonged that I would think that I would have passed out, but not so the case. Likewise for the reverse....and inhale with full expansion...or quick, rapid breaths...holding my breath, tho not really holding as it just kindof stops; nostril flaring and breathing through one nostril etc. Breath-the life force. For me it's such a sacred gifting during meditation. I don't have any answers, but I've had experiences if this helps in my sharing. Love to you happy camper. -Danielle , " onehapecamper " <onehapecamper wrote: > > Thought I would step out of lurking and ask a meditation question. >

Surrender to this beautiful experience of Kundalini guidance. - blessings Lori! - chrism
Guest guest
Hi lori, Nice to meet you. I have had breathing changes happen also during meditation, similar to what you mention like forceful exhalations, and long pauses where no breath happens, and shallow breathing that does not really reach my lungs at all and yet as you say no fear, all is well. When this happens I am not in control of the breath as it is being done for me. Sometimes I think I breath through my skin. You ask " just wondering wht is up with that " ? I do not really know the why exactly, except that it is Kundalini working on and in the body. For me it is like God moving through and on the landscape of the body. It is all good and wonderful I am glad for it too. it is reassuring to know that this happens to others as well so I hope this is helpful for you. Love Julia. ________________________________ onehapecamper <onehapecamper Wed, January 13, 2010 12:26:30 AM Breathing changes during meditation ..
