Some Impressions at John of God....Julia

Dear Stephen,

 

As always I enjoy reading your impressions of the casa. You were indeed not the

first to notice the beauty of the young women who sat near to John of God!

It might be worth saying here that John of god is a man, just like any other man

and he says himself he does not heal it is God who heals. John of God certainly

is not perfect but I do not think he claims to be so.

I would not share your view point that ritual is " excellent for stumbling

beginners on their path. " In my opinion probably the opposite is true...lol!

I am aware of some masters who see ritual and devotion as an integral part of

their spiritual path.

Ego can be purified with ritual and devotion and it can be a very challenging

place for ego to be brought. Many people cannot do certain ritual and lots of

devotion because their egos will not allow it. Their ego refuses to be brought

into such challenging situations and will fight and fight to prevent it ever

happening.

 

I had to smile when I read you saying it was like a james sbond movie, to me it

was probably a bit more like the twilight zone!!

That first morning I saw everyone move down the street dressed in white was

straight out of the Twilight Zone for sure.

People walked down the centre of the road,slowly yet with purpose and had an air

of being hypnotised about them.

As I was not then a participent but an observer who had not yet joined in the

walk towards the casa it certainly was weird to see this for the first time. I

felt myself being drawn to watch before joining in myself.

As I obsserved this surreal movement down the road I became aware that this was

a continuous repeated ritual every Wed thursday and Friday. The people changed

from day to day, but the energy I was starting to feel did not change, that

remained constant and continious. This realisation impressed me. I liked the

continuity of energy although the people came and went.

I began to let my first impressions of the twilight zone fade and payed

attention to the moving energy of prayer.... of hope.... of love... of

service... as it was expressed in the slow movement of white towards the casa.

I came to see fairly soon that it was beautiful and it touched me deeply. I then

joined in myself and becdame part of the moving river of energy towards the

casa.

 

The John of god experience seems to work at some level and often many levels for

everyone who goes there. For myself not only did I feel the presence of God,

and for some reason I do not understand St Ignatus, very strongly at the casa

but I felt the presence of ET's there too and much much love and compassion.

I will definitly return there.
