Guest guest
One thing I have not mentioned. In the afternoon at the Casa it was H-O-T!!! I swear it must have been 125 deg. F if it was not higher! The ventilation was some windows located high overhead. I don't think I ever saw the 3 fans running. In the next room with JOG and the pretty mediums--it felt air conditioned in comparison. There were times when I could not focus on prayer--just heat stroke. Then I would go out to the 'View' and pray from there. I always felt closer to God in nature. In the baking Casa I thought-- " Sweat Lodge? " . That's another reason why extreme ritual doesn't work for me. Focus. #1 If you are trying to get God's attention--closing the eyes and saying; " God I have something to say " should work! #2 If I am in extreme ritual---I may forget my purpose--to commune with God. In Chrism's volunteer Christian Boot camp we prayed (with arms up for 51/2 hrs.!!)--and tortured ourselves. The more uncomfortable I got---the less 'Holy " I felt. The Ego makes Humans do odd things --'For God' (or is it really--'LOOK AT ME!!! I'M MORE HOLY THAN YOU!!! " ). -One is build Giant temples (Do you really think God is impressed by our puny attempts. -Another is that some of us insist on yelling and hollering and chanting for hours. I wonder if God doesn't sometimes say to an Angel: " When those people have finished their theatrics call me--meanwhile I'll be relaxing with these meditating monks on a hill!... " Just me talking! :) SC
Guest guest
Dear Stephen, I am glad that you speak your mind; I feel you would never condone or make excuses for the wrong-doings/weaknesses of anyone for any reason whatsoever. This makes you a very special person. I don't know why but after reading your writing I feel I must say the following to you (though I don't understand this fully myself hopefully it will have meaning for you); -temples are places of connection and wherever you feel connection is a temple. -mating is the ritual and celebration of life. Guest guest
Dear Stephen, I was not going to reply to your post but I know that you enjoy dialog and so I am going to write a bit about ritual that is from a different perspective to the one you hold ritual to be.....I hope you enjoy the different perspective...let me know what you think. Ritual is done by people for various reasons. To see Ritual as trying get " God's attention " might not be the reason a persons performs a ritual at all. In truth you cannot know or judge why ritual is important or part of a persons practice at any particular time. Briefly here are some ways of perceiving ritual that I think you may have not yet seen. sometimes ritual is done in Praise sometimes ritual is done in thanksgiving sometimes ritual is done in forgiveness sometimes ritual is done as physical offerings sometimes ritual is done as prayer sometimes ritual is done as service sometimes ritual is done as dance sometimes ritual is a challenge sometimes ritual is a joy God knows ritual Shakti knows ritual Kundalini knows ritual Life of itself knows ritual I would like to invite you to look again at how you perceive ritual....maybe on reflection you may find that ritual for most people is not in fact as your ego is presently suggesting it is. Your own ritual of going to the mountaian to meditate with God may give you a window into the many experiences of what ritual can be. Much love to you, Julia , " Master Condrey " <mastercondrey wrote: > > One thing I have not mentioned. > In the afternoon at the Casa it was H-O-T!!! > > I swear it must have been 125 deg.
