Guest guest
Dear All: When I was a young girl in South Africa, I was given wooden carvings of safari animals. I carried the zebra (fear) and its brother the lion (courage) in my pocket. I placed them in a bird nest and cradled them in an ostrich egg shell. They fished for tag poles with me, climbed over rocks and swung from weeping willow trees. These carvings experienced a lot in their days. At the height of my k-crisis (when it was of crisis and without context), functioning in fear, I had betrayed someone dear to me. There came a time when I presented these carvings as a token of my truth. This was an offering from my heart and from a place of unconditional love. It was my peace offering and a surrendering of sorts to all that unknown yet known so deeply. The initial reaction was that the zebra would be lunch for the lion. Though understandable given our dynamic, this offering was not received in the way I invisioned, and my truth-rejected in a sense. And fear…well like the zebra's stripes, can camouflage and can create confusion. Fear, unlike courage, can be quite corrosive and painful. Over time, as the layers peeled, it came to be seen that fear and courage work together; that such are of and within Self. Courage= love + hope + fear. -Just revisting my journey and fluffing the pillows, as I let go of my hold yet again. Seriously folks, am I an octopus with a zillion little suction cups on my arms! What happens if I lift all eight legs at once... Love: ~Danielle
