Guest guest
Hi, First let me say a quick hi to all users of this group. I'd like to thank you for making this e-community and interesting and inspiring place to be. So time ago there was a discussion about Kriya yoga on the group. I'm interested in taking up this practice and I would like to ask if any of the members have experiences with various groups offering Kriya yoga teaching at the moment. Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and regards, Dominic

Guest guest
Hi there...well SRF Self Realization fellowship is a way to go...but it will take you maybe 2 yrs before they give you the ''Intitiation'' for the Kriya.... Next is Kriyananada he was in the SRF movement it may take you 1 yr here to get the Initiation......this organization is much more savy with internet use and information than SRF. The quickest route is to look up " Yogiraj'' he will give the Initiation in a weekend........i have met him and trust him...at times you can see thro him. He says what he teaches is from the same lineage as all the others.........and is the original method. Well everyone says that. So you can choose but to me there is no point spending years ....when you may be able to just jump right in! Guest guest
Thank you Richard and all other respondents, This is the thing that bothers me. I have checked a couple of groups offering kriya yoga tutoring, and usually it takes some time to receive the initiation. I don't necessarily have problems with that - they usually have a set of exercises and meditations to go thru and I see it as a good way of deepening my daily practice. The problem is the best known " schools " are not available were I live, so I would have to take a home study course, and given my zero experience in yoga I don't know how effective it would be. Then there is this initiation aspect. Could anyone shed some light as what it is? A type of shaktipat maybe? Many thanks, Dom , Igor Alphus <Alphu-s wrote: > > > Hi there...well SRF Self Realization fellowship is a way to go...but it will take you maybe 2 yrs before they give you the ''Intitiation'' for the Kriya.... Guest guest
Hi Dominic: I am unable to address your question, and I'm not sure if this would be helpful to you along the way. But, there is a beautiful 200 and some page essay in the files section on Kriya Yoga...(and what do you know, but the movements and poses discussed is what has been brought forth to me directly from Shakti while in meditation.) Guest guest
Hello Dominic, Kriya yoga imho has I feel very honorable back ground and lineage and yet is of itself as is given in this day a version of spiritual attainment that is based upon the discernment of a person in charge or a group of people reviewing your personal practices. I find they tend towards to the worship of their teacher Yogananda who was indeed a wonderful teacher. Takes at least two years for anything of substance to occur as it has been revealed to me and even then it is, once again, subject to the interpretations of others who may have little or no interest or understanding of and in your process. Here is the breakdown in a nutshell about what is given and yet they do not indicate that it is another person who lets you know whether or not you are " ready " to move forward. ************************************************************ Kriya Yoga is a complete system covering a range of techniques, including mantras and techniques of meditation for control and mastery of the life-force, bringing inner peace and control of both body and mind. Around 1920, Paramahansa Yogananda introduced Kriya Yoga to the West and founded the Self-Realization Fellowship. Yogananda demonstrated his extraordinary abilities even after his Maha-Samadhi (death) which he had announced ahead of time. The Mortuary Director of Forest Lawn Memorial-Park testified in a notarized letter: " The absence of any visual signs of decay in the dead body of Yogananda offers the most extraordinary case in our experience. " The letter continues that twenty days after Yogananda's passing, his body looked as fresh as on the day of his final exit on March 7, 1952. Meditate using the techniques of Kriya Yoga: 1. Preparing the body. To promote health and gain a certain control over body functions, some practice Hatha Yoga. Others, who are not that flexible or are restricted in time, are content with a 15 minute program of easier exercises, consisting of stretching and bending, designed by Yogananda for maximum result. 2. Preparing the mind. Kriya Yoga is said to be a combination of the more useful Yoga techniques. Like Raja Yoga, Kriya teaches the laws of general conduct (yama and niyama), including harmlessness, truthfulness, non-stealing, etc. Kriya promotes the study of metaphysical principles, physical and mental health, cleanliness and purity. 3. Practice. For the purpose of practicing Meditating, Mantras are introduced. Lessons or initiation teach the seeker how to use Mantras like So-ham, Ham-sa, Hong-so, and OM. 4. Mudras. Mudras are added to gain even more control over the flow of energy. 5. Higher Kriyas. For advanced students there are still a few higher Kriya techniques. However, full Self-realization may already be gained by practicing faithfully the Mantras given for regular Meditation. , " dominik.login " <dominic.login wrote: > > > Hi, > > First let me say a quick hi to all users of this group. Guest guest
Dominic, I am learning kriya yoga based on the book called: A Systematic Course in the Ancient Tantric Techniques of Yoga and Kriya by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Its starts from very basic and builds on it more and more as your progress. I would definitely suggest this book, if you want to practice Kriya Yoga. Also from my understanding, Swami Satyananda Saraswati wasnt a disciple of Babaji's lineage. He does not mention anything about initiation in the book. Guest guest
Namaste, It is my understanding through seminary that in 5000BC Krishna died. He is reincarnate as baba-ji with intent to restore kriya science aiding kala yuga of rusting iron mystically fall-en from golden age. Much ignorance and further losses from library of not just alexandria has let history to be written by winners of wars. We have only left a sliver of knowledge surviving primarily thru living words passed. Not much is as has been taught nor thought. Much is written but not all is wise! Be ye wise as serpents. How many trees were in eden? How many trees in us now? If don't know answer to this type of question, seek kundalini to restore memory. Seek first kingdom, all else added unto you---kundalini IS God saguna-mother which awakens thus returns back and upwards to origin-AL. Kundalini IS nirguna-father-gods way of using-infusing-purifying mother-gods matter-creation-us so we can more rapidly speed up perfecting-purifying gods-creation karma. It's like god has hypnogognic has stage of his creation-mother-dream and we serve god by seeing god in all things to be-come gentle awakeners to god him-her self. Its like god is lucid dreaming thru us in guise of kundalini. We are part of THAT-ness's divine plan, in this section of universe anyway. Kriya is to un do that which has been done, with intent on freeing....to for-give is to undo...row row row your boat, gently down the stream using one oar of knowledge and other of technique. Merrily merrily life is but a dream....swami p...tim Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry JiNN <jinnproduction Sat, 13 Mar 2010 19:54:16 Re: Kriya yoga Dominic, I am learning kriya yoga based on the book called: A Systematic Course in the Ancient Tantric Techniques of Yoga and Kriya by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Guest guest
Hi, Thank you chrism, and others who responded to my question. I have found out that there is a SRF centre in London, so I plan to apply for their home study program and devote my time to acquaint myself with that curriculum. We will see how it goes. Thank you and best regards to you all.
