Guest guest
Hi Everybody I had the most wonderful, spiritual experience last night and I would love to share it. My daughter was in a Chorale concert last night. She has been in school choir for years and since she will be graduating high school soon, this was one of the last concerts she will be in. Her high school is very large with a big auditorium and was filled with a large audience of several hundred. Due to a bone disease, Kelsey is very small and uses an electric wheelchair for mobility. She is very noticeable within the choir setting. She happens to be in two choirs that sing back to back, so instead of exiting the stage between performances she waits on stage for the first choir to exit and the second one to enter. When this has occurred in the past, Kelsey always looked so small and uncomfortable waiting there on stage all by herself. She would give a little smile and shyly wave and the people in the audience would respond. One time somebody yelled out " Hey Kels-bust a move! " and she started a shy dance, making everyone smile and laugh. Last night when her first choir exited and Kelsey was on stage by herself -something different happened. Kelsey wheeled herself right up to the front of the stage and her schoolmates started calling out. " Hey Kelsey! " She smiled, waved, and from under her foot she pulled out a piece of paper and in a clear, loud voice, she started telling jokes! " How many tenors does it take to change a light bulb? None! Because it's too high! " With that, the whole audience was hooting and laughing and cheering her on! She went on, telling more jokes before next choir entered the stage. Everyone was clapping and it took some time for the choir director to get started again! After the concert, I watched as Kelsey's classmates and their families came up to Kelsey and congratulated her. The love and positive energy I felt there was overwhelming! I thought- look at the the love one little person can bring out in so many! It is an experience I will cherish forever. With Love - Mary
