Guest guest
Over the course of my K awakening process I have had many different animals visit me. I live in the suburbs of the Chicago area and some of these animals are not native (as far as I know). I have had visits in my yard of many native animals also, they particularly like my pine trees at the back of my yard. I have photos of a large buck and foxes taking a rest there and we have our resident possums, racoons. coyotes, skunks, owls and hawks. I also have a little pet ground squirrel that comes outside my back door looking for nuts. But I have had some odd visitors also. Last summer hundreds of large dragonflies came just outside my back door and stayed for over an hour eating gnats. It was quite a specticle as there is no lake in the immediate area. I also have a large population of hummingbirds that I feed and come back year after year. My neighbors set out feeders but they don't get near as many hummingbirds as I. One time I actually held one! It was a cold morning and one was in a frozen state called tupor and I was able to hold it in my hand and give it nectar out a bottle cap until it warmed up and flew to the feeder. It was one of the most precius moments of my life. I also saw a wolf - yes a real wolf- in a wooded area about a mile from my house. People laughed at me when I said that- but I found out later that they have been spotted traveling through following a creek there. But today topped the cake. I walked outside and I saw two magnificent bald eagles soaring over head. They were close enough for me to see thier white heads and white tails flashing. I was so blessed to witness them over my yard. I know there are eagles about 10 0 miles away at a conservation area - but over my house? When I see these animals I like to look up their N ative A merican meanings and somehow it always pertains to where I am at in my K process - either something to learn or something that is arriving or what is happening spiritually with me at the time . So I looked up the eagle and this is what one said: Amazing and majestic bird of prey, the eagle is often desired as a totem. It holds strong medicine. The eagle soars high in the sky, yet will swoop down to the ground in a swift motion to capture a mouse from the forest or fish from the water. Because of this the eagle is considered a strong connection between earth and sky energies. The eagle has keen sight to be able to see his prey on the ground. As a totem the eagle also represents keen insight. As a messenger the eagle offers visionary talents. If the eagle visits you likely have clairvoyant abilities that could be tapped. The eagle also represents spiritual growth. When you see an eagle soaring overhead it is likely that you are ready to progress to the next level spiritually. Hmmm.... I wonder what Shakti has in mind for me now? What an adventure! Love Mary

Guest guest
Wow! Great post on your relations with our animal fellow sentient beings. I like how you are studying nature and your obviously blessed life , for coincidence is significance and worthy of greater discernment. Greater than calling it luck. Guest guest
LOL, Mary! I'm laughing because I can so relate! I live in Phoenix suburbia, not very near wilderness and had the same things happening, even the pair of eagles though they were the brown-headed sort. Our K draws critters like moths to a light! Very cool! We've had coyotes, a raccoon family comes nightly, right now inundated with midges or whatever you call those giant mosquito looking things (they don't bite though). But my favorite is a resident owl who perches on my chimney every night and hoots down it! An owl with a megaphone! LOL I love his voice, I just have to be sure the cats are in at night! Thank you for sharing your backyard wildlife experiences with us. More to come, most likely! Enjoy them. Guest guest
I can relate too, Mary. I live in town and we have lots of critter visitors, deer, raccoon, opposums, skunks, armadillos, squirrels and lots of snakes. Setting in my yard it sounds like I am in one of those bird sanctuaries. Out walking the other day there were seven hawks above me. Another day I had a hawk swoop down no more than about 4 or 5 feet right in front of me. We have an owl too, Valarie, and lots of turtle doves cooing and a humugus amount of those black grackle bird, like in the movie called " The Birds " from way back. That day last summer I had hundreds and hundreds of them surrounding my house, just like in that movie. When I went for a walk that day they were not in the other parts of the neighborhood, just all congregating at my house and they stayed for hours. If you know anything about grackle bird they have this very loud shrill sound they make. Apparently, we also have the coyotes and wild cats(cougars), but I have not seen any of them, but they have been spotted by people walking the nature trail, which starts just one block over from my house. It seems strange to have a nature trail that runs right here in town, but we do. It runs back of/inbetween neighborhoods for 2 and 1/2 miles. Oh, a couple of weekends ago, my grandson and I went for a walk after dark and those big bugs(we call them June bugs here)that are attracted to the street lights. Well we were not near the street light, the lights were on the other side of the street from us, but those bugs kept flying toward us and hitting us in the head/face...getting tangled in my hair. Oh Valarie, those large mosquitoes looking insects, they are good to have around, they eat mosquitoes. We call them mosquitoe eater here. I guess we really do attract critters, I just thought they liked my yard for some unknown reason. Linda , " Valarie " <vjvousden wrote: > > LOL, Mary! Guest guest
Linda and Valerie Your stories make me laugh! I too have had hundreds and hundreds of grackles descend into my yard and stay for a while. My lawn is black with them! Its good because they eat the bugs and gnats that also like to congregate in my yard. The funniest thing is that last summer I kept telling my husband that I heard an owl around the house. He likes to tease me about my critters as I am always the one that sees them first. He pretends that I mistake my sightings, for instance, when I see a hawk he teases me that it was probably a crow. Well, we were sitting outside one nice summer night and all of a sudden a huge owl silently swooped down right in front of him! It was really funny to see my 250 lb 6'2 " husband jump up and scream like a girl! It is also funny to see my friends and visitors dodge my constantly warring hummingbirds and I enjoy my visitors happiness at seeing the birds so close. With all the critters that Shakti draws, I do have to keep a keen eye out on my little 6 lb dog though. I think she thinks she is 60 lbs. and the protector of my yard! She has had a hawk or two stake her out - with a couple of close calls. But she has made friends with my little ground squirrel friend and it is really cute to see them sniff each other nose to nose. I think they have teamed up to watch out for hawks! Love and Blessings Mary , " danceswithcats999 " <crazycats711 wrote: > > I can relate too, Mary.
