Guest guest
During the day I feel optimistic, have adequate energy and my most disabling Kriya, my chronic cough is 95% relieved. Then comes evening and Mr. Jekyll becomes Mr. Hyde and my cough returns, my energy gets low and all I see is pessimism. I do understand that my Kriyas are most active at night and this is all my imagination anyway, and I am prepared to do whatever is necessary to resolve this situation. I do my safeties, eat watermelon daily and drink filtered water. Is there anything I am missing here? I am a bit confused as to where this is taking me. Any suggestions? Love & Blessings, august
Guest guest
August, A few thoughts that may be helpful - please forgive my wordiness, and use what resonates with you.... The higher you can keep your own vibration, the more exalted the states of attention you will experience. At a certain point, lower vibrational states, like pessimism or depression, will not occur. Kundalini is transforming you into this higher vibration, but you must help. Your assistance includes: surrendering to Her agenda; keeping yourself physically fit; changing your diet as She dictates; cultivating positive mental and emotional states; recognizing karmic blockages as She reveals them and allowing Her to dissolve them; and retraining the mind, ego, and emotions to accept enlightenment and to work towards your transformation and not against it. Techniques for doing all these things are the Safeties. Do not succumb to pessimism - cultivate joy, love, gratitude, etc. consciously as antidotes to pessimism. Catch yourself when the pessimism begins and do something to change it. If you're inside go outside. What were you thinking about at that instant? Who were you thinking about? What were you allowing into your field of attention just before the pessimism arrived? Remember that you can choose your state of mind each instant, in part by controlling where you place your attention. Do you watch TV? Beware of the many negative images and attitudes. Same with who you associate with and their attitudes, which you can pick up either through conversation or even just by thinking about them. What did you eat before the low-energy state arrived? Food and blood sugar levels can affect your mood and inner state. Until you are able to stabilize and control your inner state by focusing on the Divine more often than not, you will be tossed about emotionally and mentally. So keep up with your practice and be patient with yourself. You may go through periods where you need to limit your interactions with others, with newspapers, with books that are not uplifting, with TV, etc., until you can interact with these things without them affecting you. Every subtle emotional or mental breeze is amplified into a whirlwind by the Kundalini, so watch these things carefully. In family and work contexts you may find mantra useful, getting outside, taking short, frequent exercise and meditation breaks, etc. Find what works for you to keep your energy levels up and to prevent pessimism. Healthy humor and laughter are very good antidotes to pessimism. So is exercise - when you feel negative mental states coming on, move your body, do some exercise. Find a reason to smile or laugh. This can increase your vibration and change your inner state. Remember also that pessimism is one of your ego's defenses against the Kundalini's transformative tidal wave. If the ego can get you to allow your attention to dwell upon being pessimistic (to identify with the pessimism), then it has won that moment's battle. Note the ego's defensive screen of pessimism when it puts this up, but do not identify with it or allow your attention to be sucked into it. The same with your thinking mind when it embarks upon a downward spiral of thoughts, each one leading lower than the last. Just acknowledge these things and redirect your attention. Mantra, a picture of Chrism, your favorite image of the Divine, music - even throwing yourself into some work or other activity that fully engages your attention can help. You must cultivate the moment-to-moment awareness necessary to catch these moments and intervene to redirect your attention. Be patient - it takes continuous practice. With time, the ego and mind are retrained and they will not try to use these tactics to derail your process. They do this out of fear, so recognize that these diversions by the ego, mind, and emotions are fear reactions to change. Allow them to be, but do not get drawn into them. In time, these three bodies will learn that they need not be afraid of transformation. Cultivate Bhakti. Once the emotional body gets used to loving devotion directed toward the Divine, it embraces this process instead of being afraid. Music can instantly change your inner state. Find the music that uplifts you and use it to consciously move your attention into inner joy. If necessary, don't go anywhere without an mp3 player. If the low energy state is due to true physical exhaustion, you may need to eat something or take a nap. (But don't become a tamasic lump, lol!) You must surrender to and accept your process. Resistance is futile, as they say. It is also exhausting, and can take you into these low energy states. If you resist enough, then K will put you to sleep to remove your ego-mind-emotions from the equation in order for Her to do Her work while you are asleep. You might also try using the evening time when your energy starts to get low to do your practice -- the Tibetans, compression prayer, the Shakti prayer, meditation. Perhaps this is what Shakti wants you to do at this time and that is why all those parts of you that resist the process choose this particular time to go into overtime. I do not know - just a thought. Love and blessings, David
