Guest guest
This coming Sunday Oct 18th at the Radha Krishna temple in Spanish Fork, Utah, there will be four celebrations observed on the one day. From 4 PM there will be a fire sacrifice (havan) to usher in the Indian New Year (Diwali) After the havan Caru das will narrate the wonderful story of Krishna's lifting Govardhana hill, and then the Lord as Giridhari will be offered a special arotik (Govardhana Puja). The Indian version of Thanksgiving is called Anna Kuta (literally, "heaps of grain") That will be celebrated with no less than 108 different cooked preparations being placed on the altar. In the final observance, a live cow calf will enter the temple and be decorated with garlands, and offered respect for all that her species does for mankind in the way of producing milk, butter, cheese, yogurt etc. By about 6 pm the crowd will enjoy a huge vegetarian feast of Krishna prasadam. So far the kind and generous sponsors of the festival are Sreenivasulu Basabathina, Shashi Valluri, Laura and Blake Hamblin, and Arjun and Prabha Ramprasad.
