Guest guest
Dear vaishnavas, 5.14.99 - 10:30pm India time Our respectful obeisance's to all vaishnavas in all missions situated at the lotus feet of our great Param Gurudev Sri Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur Prabhupada, the shelter and refuge of all fortunate souls and the founder or missionary spirit Gaudiya Maths and their sister missions. We offer our obeisance's to all His sincere followers who have created so may wonderful branches of Vaishnava sanga throughout the world as well as their followers. I am happy to report that that the condition of His most blessed son and representative, His Divine Grace Pujapada Bhakti Promode Puri Goswami Maharaja continues to improve. It has been more than a week since our last update. Guru Maharaj's health has continued to improve very gradually, day by day. Some days there has been some noticeable improvement, other days none could be detected. Overall the doctors have been pleased and encouraged by His progress. His Divine Grace has been speaking few words to the devotees serving him. Mostly, he listens and through eye contact and gestures indicates his recognition and awareness of the individual or conversation taking place. Today Guru Maharaja chanted on His beads again for some time, and at other times listened intently to the devotees who were chanting the Holy Name around him. While the devotees chanted Guru Maharaja seemed to be in a deep meditative state and if the chanting stopped, he would immediately open His eyes. At different times Guru Maharaja has expressed that he is feeling some acute pain and is also restless. His doctor has stated that the restlessness is a good sign and that His movement of hands and limbs is promoting blood circulation which is extremely important for His full recovery. The doctor expects the recovery period to last approximately 2 more weeks. His Divine Grace will remain in the hospital in Calcutta during that time. Twice a day Guru Maharaja is visited by many of his disciples for a brief darsan, while other disciples attend to him constantly. They are also cooking special preparations for Guru Maharaja which consist mostly of chana (fresh sweetened curd), mango shake, and various fruits. Guru Maharaja is also receiving massage several times daily now which also promotes His blood circulation. Sometimes Guru Maharaja is also chanting some verses spontaneously while continuing to chant the Holy Name throughout the days and nights. A special air-conditioned room has been prepared for His Divine Grace at Gopinath Gaudiya Math in Mayapur where He will be taken after He is released from the hospital in Calcutta. Guru Maharaja's disciples are researching alternative ayurvedic and homeopathic treatments to enhance His recovery and rejuvenate His system. Deepok Chopra has been contacted and will be giving his consultation and referral for an accomplished ayurvedic doctor in India. Anyone with any knowledge or referral for a ayurvedic specialist may write to the undersigned with that information and would be very appreciated. For His Divine Grace's disciples, this is a sober time. We all feel the responsibility to not take lightly this situation, but to day by day try and increase the quality of our bhajan as our Guru Maharaja has so often emphasized. We know that only our continued struggle to offenselessly chant the Holy Name in undistracted meditation on the Lord and His Parishads, will encourage our Guru Maharaja to remain with us in this world. At the age of 102 years we feel more than just blessed to have the darsan of such a great acarya still in our midst. How can we imagine and conceive of our great fortune? Yet, selfishly and helplessly, we cannot resist our eagerness to beg our beloved Guru Maharaja to stay with us and continue to be present for the benefit of all souls in this world. We humbly beg all of you to continue to pray to Sri Chaitanya, who is most magnanimous, and to Nityananda Prabhu who most merciful to allow His Divine Grace to remain with us all and continue to light the world with his divine presence. Most importantly special attention to avoiding offenses to any Vaishnava will certainly improve Guru Maharaja's condition. In this way we can all benefit by serving His Divine Grace through His instruction-- the best medicine of all. Guru Maharaja has often affectionately been referred to as the "last of the old guard" of Srila Prabhupada Sarasvati Thakur's chief disciples. His presence on the planet for many is the grace that keeps Kali from further advancing. For others, His presence is the embodiment of the pure siddhantas of His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur--free from any tinge of deviation or concoction. No matter how philosophically deep or intimate His personal realizations, always concluding His instructions to us all that, "if we only have complete faith in the instructions of our beloved Lord, Sriman Mahaprabhu, and chant the Holy Names of the Lord with patience and humility, surely His causeless mercy will one day fall on us and we will taste a drop of that prema; and that all higher devotional conclusions and realizations will only appear in the heart of a soul who takes this instruction on their head". Certainly Guru Maharaja's instruction to us all is that---the greatest truths are the simplest and most sublime-- Hari Nama, Hari Nama, Hari Nama! Many have been inquiring on the release date Srila Puri Maharaja's new book,-- The Art Of Sadhana-A Guide to Daily Devotion Vol.1 . It will be released on the Vyasa Puja day of His Divine Grace in October along with a revised edition of The Heart of Krishna, a new book by his beloved godbrother Srila B.R. Sridhara deva Goswami, as well as several other publications. All are invited to attend this function in Mayapur and a schedule will be posted on the various Vaishnava web sites. Those interested in ordering these publications may contact www.mandala.org . We thank you again for all you kind letters and prayers. May you be blessed again and again with the mercy of Sri Rupa and Raghunath das. Dandavat pranams to you all. das das anudas, Ramdas das
