The King of Nepal gets Bhagavad Gita during visit to India

Dear Devotees,

A nice experience for us was to have the opportunity to meet His Majesty Gyanendra Bir Vikram Shah Dev & Her Majesty Queen Komal Raj Lakshmi Shah Devi, King & Queen of Nepal during a reception in Calcutta while they were in an official visit on June 27th. I didn't want to be there without offering some present to the king and I thought the best thing would be a Bhagavad Gita in Hindi written by Srila Prabhupada, in fact there were restrictions for security reasons and the consul told me by phone that it may be impossible but I prayed to the Lord to allow us this and in fact I took with me a new BG in Hindi and went to the reception. It was totally blissful, I could meet and talk 4 times with the King and he was very receptive and attended me nicely as well all the members of the consulate were providing good attention and reception.

We understood how merciful is Krsna and Srila Praabhupada who opens all the doors and remove obstacles to us so we can do easily our preaching, His Majesty was very happy to receive the Gita and told me that he knows about ISKCON and our preaching activities and after 30 minutes we again spoke to him and invited him to visit our centers whenever he comes back to India which he accepted.

In Nepal there are some people who worship the king as genuine representative of Vishnu while others see him as incarnation of Lord Vishnu himself, although we have different points of view, this was the first trip abroad to the Nepali Royal Family after the assassination of the King Birendra and his family one year back.

We are posting few pictures about this occasion, for more information please visit http://www.mayapur.info
