Vancouver devotees to hold Rathayatra celebration

On Sunday, August 3, ISKCON of Vancouver, B.C. held its annual Snanayatra Festival. This bathing ceremony of Lord Jagannatha was held during the regular Sunday Feast time. This special festival takes place once a year, and everyone who comes has an opportunity to bathe the Lord.

A scant fortnight after the bathing ceremony, Vancouver's Jagannatha Rathayatra and Festival of India will take place on August 16 & 17 in Stanley Park at Second Beach.

The actual parade will take place on Sunday, August 17, beginning at 11:30 AM from Sunset Beach and proceeding along Beach Avenue into Stanley Park to Second Beach.

The Festival of India event takes place on both Saturday and Sunday.

Amazon.com's "best new age artists", Rasa, voted "the number one choice of music for yoga" by the New Age Voice, will headline the main stage, along with a host of other talent such as an acclaimed international theatrical troupe, top rated classical Bharatanatyam dancers and a variety of musical artists.

Special features will include two entertainment stages, face painting, clowns, puppet shows and balloon artists -- all calculated to keep the kids entertained. Devotees will continuously distribute a free full course vegetarian feast for 10,000 guests from noon to dusk.
