Dear devotees,

I am not initiated and I am buying some new Tulasi Japa Beads. I was wondering, is there any procedure or ritual when I chant on my beads for the first time, or do I just go ahead and chant as usual?

Hare Krsna

you could try and chant in the temple for the first time, or even leave your beads in front of the altar/picture for a day or so, just to thank krsna for your wonderful beads

haribol!

as far as I know, one has to be following the four regulative principles to be able to chant on tulsi mala. because is so, it is an offense to Tulsi devi. otherwise, one can use that made from nim.

Prior to chanting one can place the tulasi mala at the feet of Lord Krishna (or His photo) for some time, and then offer an incense to the mala.

If you already started chanting, do not worry.

Hare Krishna all! Indeed the touch of Tulasi beads is not to be taken lightly. Believe me, its as if when 1 round is chanted on Tulasi beads, it feels like 4 rounds have been chanted on a counter. Such is the effect! All glories to Sri Tulasi Devi for helping us to render service unto Sri Sri RadhaKrsna.
