Guest guest
Did Sabari find one? Wow God is so humble, he is willing to put his pure devotee above himself. All glories unto Him.
Guest guest
Sabari's guru was Sage Matang. It is said that his spiritual radiance permeated the atmosphere around the ashram. No fruit or flower withered, no animals fought. Sage Matang left the earth before Rama came to Sabari. She was instructed by him to wait there for Rama who would impart the 9-fold path of devotion to her, on hearing which she could leave her body. Of course Rama told her that he could not teach her anything at all since she was devotion itself. She was reputed to have immense spiritual powers but no arrogance whatsoever. I don't think that it is humbleness on the part of the Lord that makes him raise up his pure devotee higher than himself. Praise only is needed when there is egoity and arrogance, when praise makes one feel good. God is not in that category, he is not jealous as some would say. What departure from traditional views and How beautiful!!! He instructs not to get praise for himself but to benefit the devotee. What tremendous wisdom. He realises that everyone can bow before GOD, that does not take anything whatsoever, after all, an all powerful, omni present being. Half the people will bow just out of fear. But to bow to a man, a man who lived in abject poverty in most cases, as higher than god will absolutely shatter your ego. It inculcates values like seeing God in everyone. Think of how many people today are arrogant and would say they should not bow to anybody except God, it breeds selfishness, and prejudice. ---------------------------- She stood with folded hands before him, and as she gazed upon the lord her love grew more and more ardent. “ How can I hymn your praises?” she said. “ I am a woman of mean descent and of dullest wit;- of those who are the lowest of the low, women are lower still; of women again I am the most dull headed, O destroyer of sin.” Sri Rama : “Listen lady to my words, I recognize no relationship except that of love. Despite caste, kinship, lineage, piety, reputation, wealth, power, accomplishments and ability, a person without love is of no more account than a cloud without water”
Guest guest
THE NINE FOLD PATH OF DEVOTION SPOKEN BY SRI RAMA TO SABARI 1.) Fellowship with saints 2.) Fondness for legends of the lord 3.) Selfless Service to the Guru 4.) Hymns to the Lord's Virtues with a heart without guile 5.) Chanting my mystic name with steadfast faith 6.) Practice self governance and detatchment from manifold activities 7.) See the world indistinct, within the lord and see the guru as even above that 8.) Be content with what one has and dream not of spying faults in others 9.) Maintain Simplicity and no cunning in any manner, have implicit faith in the lord with neither exultation or depression.
