Guest guest
Haribol, They are not taken in the Vedic cuisine because they are foodstuffs in the rajo-guna,or passion, which is consequently increased when eaten, and as a result they disturb and agitate the mind. This is obviously not a wanted state a practicing yogi wants to be in. The medicinal qualities of the foodstuffs are recognized in the Ayurveda, but one should preferably only have intake of onions and garlic when it's a prescription. Hope this clears it up!
