Guest guest
Jay Shri Krsihna, In ancient times in Inida people used to have multiple wives (Applicable only for Kshatriyas & Brahmins??). Is there mention about Multiple Wives in Vedas?? And what are rules for that who's eligible for it? If anyone has knowledge about it pls shed some light. Guest guest
Hare Krishna According to the scriptures, a Hindu marriage is indissolvable in life. An address by Bhishma to King Yudhishthira in the Mahabharata, succinctly endorses this fact: "A Brahmana can take three wives. A Kshatriya can take two wives. As regards the Vaishya, he should take a wife from only his own order. The children born of these wives should be regarded as equal." (Anusasana Parva, Section XLIV). Guest guest
In Kali Yuga only one female body for each male body is permitted. You can take 16,108 wives just like Lord Krishna but only if you can duplicat your body once for each wife.
Guest guest
It also goes both ways as a wife if she chooses can take on multiple husbands as did Draupadi who had 5 husbands.
Guest guest
Hare Krishna ! I reckon it was not Draupadi who chose 5 husbands. When the five Pandavas brought Draupadi to mother Kunti, she was busy with work. She didnt know what Pandavas have brought and she asked them to equally divide whatever they have brought. Since pandavas, could not refuse mother's order, they all became Draupadi's husband.
Guest guest
Only Arjuna brought Draupadi to Queen Kunti and not all the Pandavas. Arjuna also had another wife so besides a woman having multiple husbands, those same husbands can have multiple wives.
