Guest guest
the theory of mandelbrot, the scientist who found fractals, says that also under the apparently randomly generated natural shapes, there's a inner geometry, a very strict logic i sometimes say it in my poor attempts to preach KC
theist
What a time huh LE. For the brief time I sported a sika, I remember it was very long and I would braid it and then tie a small prasad flower to the end. I am still having hard time seeing through all the purple haze. livingentity
the sunshine was a little too orange!! /images/graemlins/wink.gif I have to be careful sometimes - I start to get a wee bit too nostalgic for that era. Music especially can zip me back in time! Geez...I was so young!!

gHari

Click on the picture to download an amazing 4MEG MPEG fractal movie that dives into the infinite Mandelbrot bulb nodules that are contained in a finite space. That's right; they have proven mathematically that an infinite number of these cute little fuzzies fit into this two inch square. As the movie zooms into the center, you will see beautiful shapes and symmetries among the infinite nodules. Discovered in 1980, a whole new field of Fractal Mathematics erupted. Leaders in the field expect fractals to produce inventions that will dwarf even the effect that computers have had on mankind. It's like looking into eternity. [Not too unlike chanting that 108th round of the mahamantra] The download takes a while, so drop a couple of tabs now, and when the hair on your arm starts dancing to the apothecary's voodoo, then it will be time to come back to the movie. Reality is indeed stranger than fiction; like totally far-out. Who needs drugs, man. Tie-die it into Mandelbrot fractals and chant Hare Krsna; now there's the new millennium hippy! gHari

Guest guest
Haribol, since there is response, I am saddened that the same folks dont wanna talk about their long lost records. I still think a-cid symphony is the best music ever, and also others from the era, like fairport conventions rendition of bob dylans "percy's song" are the best songs. In fact last night, i heard an over-played yardbirds song, and while folks may call me a dinosaur, who could object to A GROUP THAT HAD JEFF BECK, JIMMY PAGE, AND ERIC CLAPTON IN THE SAME BAND. lIKE "HAPPENINGS TEN YEARS TIME AGO", NOW THERES A RECORD FOR YA. hARE kRSNA, VISIT MY TOPIC AND TALK ABOUT YOUR LONG LOST FAVES. Guest guest
Hare Krshna, Please share any knowledge or memories about the January 29, 1967 benefit for the San Francisco Hare Krishna Temple. 1. Does Srila Prabhupada's address to the audience or kirtan leading of Hare Krishna mantra from that evening exist in the Ministry recordings of SP? 2. Is there a set list or any details of the support acts? 3. Several songs purported to be from either this night or the previous evening can be downloaded freely from archive.org (the list project details do indeed include this date as the possible source) but the nectar is rather thin so don't bother unless you have a strong deflector for 10th class sounds. 4. The RK Temple on Frederick St. became a vital part of the Haight-Ashbury (and beyond) community soon after this benefit. People who were involved organizing the benefiit at the Avalon returned a few months later and captured services at the Temple, and the Rathayatra Festival with Jayananda chanting alongside the cart, on 35mm film. The edited footage was included in the movie "Revolution" (I wrote a review of Revolution on imdb.com). Please, add further details about that time and place as well. (footnotes to be posted in followup) /images/graemlins/cool.gif
Guest guest
Hare Krishna, Here is the poster for the 1967 Rathayatra festival, unless I'm mistaken and the correct year of the 1st San Francisco Rathayatra Festival was 1968. Legendary for going all the way to the beach, and there are many other stories about this 1st Festival in SF. Such as?
