raniketki
namaste! I am doing some research on the four life principles. What I would like to find out is who were the initiators of karmayoga, bhaktiyoga, jnanayoga and rajayoga, respectively? Besides Krishna himself of course. Could anyone help me? Guest guest
what you mentioned are yogas not life principles (of sanatana dharmis). The life activities are geared for: dharma (know god and how to live sin free. become god conscious.) artha (earn living staying within the bounds of dharma) kama (enjoy with the senses according to dharma,) and maosha (attain freedom from brith and death living in that way.) this is hindu's outlook towards life. jai sri krishna! -madhav

All of these paths are as eternal as the Vedas, so you will not find a founder for any of these schools of thought. Though there are famous practitioners and teachers associated with each. For example Narada is the famous acharya of Bhaktiyoga throughout the Puranas. He initiated such devotees as Vyasa, Prahlada, Dhruva, etc. Kapila Muni is a great teacher of the devotional Astanga Yoga (Raja Yoga). Patanjali is a great teacher of the non-devotional Ashtanga Yoga.
