what is etymology of the word "india"?

i think that indigo was imported to england from india.

therefore they called that land india.

 

hindu word is from sindhu (river).

 

the invader muslims pronounced sindu as hindu.

then they called the people living on the east side of sindu as hindu. thus the word is 1000 years old.

who called the people who lived by the river Sindh, Indu, because they couldn't pronounce the 'S'. Then the British came, and called the people "Hindu", adding the 'H'. At least that's what I read somewhere
